Not Showing: BERSERK The Golden Arc I: The Egg of the King

At last, after 2 years since it was announced that they will remake my favorite anime.. I was ecstatic and eagerly waited until this time. Great thing that it will be in a movie format, and divided into 3 parts.. I thought, well, I don't think they will finish this magnificent piece in 3 parts?!

Anyway, is it worth the wait? Will the fans love it? Is worth seeing how they will show... The Blackswordsman.

4 months after it's release this year, well... I just finished watching it. Part 2 was shown since yesterday in Japan, I need to wait another 4 months for this. I watched without the subs, my player doesn't have any function to load the subs.

I don't care. =)

For the plot, check wiki. =) But what I can tell is this... As a fan of this manga, fave anime of sorts and now into a movie flick.. I can say, I'm very satisfied with it. Although Kuya Allan says it looks like a great video game cut scenes, well I still consider this a great anime film.. Nevertheless, it has some minor flaws, I consider this flick worth watching and damn, I'm eager to wait for the other 2 flicks.. I hope they will be more of it, depending how it will go in the Japan box office.

Some fans, might be underwelmed, especially with the flaws it has.. One minor flaw was yes, I thought at last they will make this one a straight adaptation from the great Manga.. But alas, it was not.. It was written in a different way, even it has the same depth of the manga and anime, but it's just they remove some important details to make it short.. Sad to say, it's only 75 minutes, or around 72 minutes. Geez..

Another flaw was yeah.. If you read the manga, as for me, the last time I read the manga was in Dell.. While taking calls and processing orders and disputes, I have a window standby to have the manga displayed. I was not even at the half of the story, but I was able to cover the real story that was adapted into anime 25 episodes TV version.. Damn, this one is short.. They just removed a lot of details, like the pasts of Guts, (they shown it but just a few seconds).. Even the pasts of all the members of the Band of Hawk.. They just make a straight up plot without the complex plot of the Manga.. The TV version also well, they make it simple, some editing styles from first episode and last one.. That's it. You'll definitely ask for more..

This one, no backtracks.. It started from that bear killer scene.. But those were minor flaws to me.. I still love the piece!

First was well, how it was written.. Since they are in the hurry and with that short time, they are good telling the first 11 episodes into an one hour movie. I don't how they pull it off but the plot, theme and depth of the story is quite same in the Manga and TV series. Kudos to those writers but I hope they will show a lot as these next movies will come up. About the dialogue I'm not sure.. The pace and plot did not really change so I think they did not have a hard time to make the dialogue work. Damn, I should really learn how to speak nihonggo.

Second! Damn.. If the TV series was made look like this, all fans will be damn happy and will keep the series forever. hehe Some anime websites did not like the combination of 2D and 3D input into the film.. Like Kuya says, it's like a long video game with great cut scenes. Maybe a great example is Metal Gear Solid. But for me, it helped a lot to appreciate the anime movie. It's at par with Ninja Scroll or Vampire Hunter D part 2. Great visuals, crappy story.. hehe But this one has great visuals, great story.. I love how the background shows in details, the 3D effects in the fight and war scenes.. I love the scene that they fought Zodd.. From the entry of the room until how he flew away, that's one hell of a piece. Of course, the shots, even the scale of it.. Fantastically done for the character design and animation!

Third... Gore and graphic details. Of course, it's not all the time that when you hit by the swords in the head, blood will just flow out.. Here, your head will loose.. Which is true.. =) That's what they take out from the manga and put in screen! Bodies flying anywhere, Zodd tearing the soldiers apart.. Guts cutting the soldier's heads off and even eyes of Bazuso were out.. So, it's great that they show that.. Realistic and it gives adrenaline to the viewer.. For action wise.

Four! Musique.. Not that great, but it does fit to the time and story of this movie.. Dark mood music, good choir or atmosphere sounds.. The entry song just fit to the movie.. OST just fit this movie. That's all I can say.. =) With it's dark theme and story, the music, simply fit in this one.. Sorry for the fit word. hehe

Five..Fifth is the depth of the story, the emotion entails to it, with great animation and pace.. The situations happened from start to finish, especially in the assassin scene, I felt sorry for that boy. I thought they will change it as well like the other scenes but this one, they make it more sorrow for that character. Geez, same in the manga, you will feel sorry for the kids that he killed. But everything, great! From start to finish, I can't wait for the other movies.

Lastly. Voice acting.Of course, you cannot see the real actors.. Or thinking they can translate this into real film, which I hope they won't! All the Band of Hawk members, even they are not the same voice talent from the TV series which was aired more than a decade.. This one has the same voice acting you have in a fresh way.. Griffith was more of a leader and yes, even with no flashbacks, you can sense his deceptiveness.. Caska still the rowdy but fearless lady commander.. Guts? Great dude.. Less words, but has meaning.. More action! I can't wait how he will be in the blackswordsman arc. Well, the only let down character in the film, Pippin.. He did not even utter a single word. Geez. hehe

For the part 2, I'm guessing and I hope it will cover the remaining half of the TV series.. Until the eclipse.. Then yes, last part will be the real story of BERSERK. Will they adapt the same plot in Manga? Or what will be their take anyway? Especially if or I hope they will show, when those "Church" entity comes in. But one thing is for sure, Skull Knight and Puck should really appear to answer questions left in the TV series. =)

I'm so happy to see this piece, I'll watch it again perhaps! hehe I love how the sword shines and the angles shown to it.. How Guts fight those bastards and how the 3 characters, will come together in a sad fate..

Ah I'm looking forward those scenes how Guts become century killer. Killed a hundred men.

I'm also expecting a graphic depiction of the eclipse, will it show with no boundaries or in a short scene?

We will see, how Guts and Caska really survived that ordeal...

Ah yeah, it won't show it here.. Sorry, not for kids or teens as well, even how Naruto become that bloody fighting till death already.. That is for kids. Even the TV series, I dare any TV station here or cable Animax whatever.. To show the TV series, without cuts. hehe

Ah, quite sad, the 2 great songs in the TV series, were not included in the movie..

Yeah, Stanley Kubrick, simply is my favorite movie director of all time.. Even I just watched hmmmm 3 movies to 4? Kahit yun full metal jacket eh di pa yun pinakaperfect niya, still, those are the films that should reach my standards of an epic movie.. Nothing more or less.. I wonder, pano kaya ako pag naging director? Sitting in that simple chair, shouting with your megaphone to actors, or worse to your film crew.. hehe

What I know, for being a director or kahit sa film crew, to become one, at least.. You love at least watching movies. Whatever era you like watching movies or what kind of genre, ayun you will think, baka ako kaya ko din.. Especially, many movies have bad directors.. Geez, like recently, Ghost Rider.. Come on, when you have big budget, you should use it in the right way, not in the bad way.. They did just that..

Kaya there, my style will be like Stanley, every genre, kaya niya.. Pero not perfectionist like him, kasi style niya yun, especially in cinematography and editing, flawless even in present standards. Even with that 3D technology. Kahit di siya nagfocus sa action genre, but clockwork and full metal, medyo may action na siya dun ha. Except sa Eyes wide shut. hehe

I'll be more sa action siguro pero realistic like Bourne or John Woo style, but with depth.. Kaso mahirap ata gumawa ng action movie oscar worthy.. hehe The only movies na ganun, na nakita ko, The Departed and District 9.. Other genre na gusto ko, comedy! I don't I'm that funny, but malalaman ko pag nakagawa ako ng comedy film. =)

Sci fi, well.. Sa ibang directors can make one, for me, baka yun ang pinakamahirap ko magawa.. In Sci Fi kasi should have a fresh, even weird idea to make and relate it to the audience. Which parang lahat naisip na.. Hmmmm what else to think for? Go for novels perhaps. hehe

Horror, for me, maybe is one genre, I can make easy one.. hehe Give me just a day to think, ayun, may idea na ko. Of course director is not only by doing himself.. I need to have great screenwriters, get Charlie or Q is great.. Great editors like hmmmm recent films that I like, SFX or 3D crew if needed. Yuen Wo Ping for Action scenes.. hehe Or John Woo, or for US or Euro standards, get Luc Besson or that one in Haywire, underworld flicks.. Actors siyempre!! Actresses.. Hmmm Marami ako gusto na icast, kulang ang post na to. hehe But I prefer young actors who has a potential na maging serious actors.. Not young at looks ha.. hehe

Will I make pinoy films? Ayun ang aking goal, if I do make one.. Make pinoy films other than real situation of our lives, hmmmm or the usual comedy flicks.. How about rom-com that sells famous lines but the plot seems like crap.. How about make a film about lapu lapu in a 300 style? Or cops corruption like internal affairs or hard boiled.. Mga ganun ba.. Geez, how about visitor Q in pinoy style? hehehe

Kaya yun, siguro pag marunong na ko in this lifetime, even in writing for film or directing.. Definitely, let's change how our home movies are made. Please...

Ah, yeah I forgot, idol ko din si Takeshi Kitano or siyempre, Miike!! Yeah!!! Great directors..

Ngayon, eto nagiisip of ano ang magandang escape route. hehe Anyway, yeah.. I was not successful last week at mukhang the streak will continue until maisip ko kung san maganda at matino. Parang kailangan ko icompromise something that I can't just to really fix my dear life. =)

Salamat naman at tahimik at simple, masaya ang birthday month. Surprised that 20 days will be over, and here still using my darn computer. Mas mabilis pa ata yun SII ko dito sa computer ko. Not counting SIII.. Sorry if any other than Ivan na di ko masagot thru inquiries or kamustahan.. Busy these days.. Applying and training at the same time. Ang galing ng isang katrainee ko, nahulaan sa charades yun 2001 A space odyssey at Requiem for a Dream at the last second?! Pano ba naman, nagbebenta ng dvd. hehe Parang like me, the difference eh siya talagang quiapo style.

I wonder what happen to my other friend, hmmm I hope she's ok and sorts.. I hope I could talk to her ulit.. Busy kasi at nagkasakit pa.. =( Anyway looking forward to meet her again.

School started and everybody is back of being busy with school things and stuff. Lalo na yun mga bata, back to school.. More quiet times at this house... I hope that ayun, there will be breathing changes after this week.. It's time na din to go back sa CG. hehe Sorry namiss ko ang CG due to well, busy.. But starting this Sunday, malamang makabalik ako habang pwede pa.

flashbacks: Long Winding Roads

Of course, lahat naman tayo eh nakapunta na sa ibang lugar, or doing some errands.. Di naman maiiwasan along the way, you'll get lost. Ang payo sa kin ni Dad pag naliligaw, magtanong sa mga taong may alam ng lugar. Hehe At for me, kung di ako sure sa pupuntahan ko, although parang may clue ka.. Lakarin ko nga para sure. At yes, pag walang pera o kinapos, maglakad na lang. hehe

I still remember these roads I've walked, pero not sure the exact places.. Ang sure lang, napagod ako sa mga lugar na to..

Definitely not that cool road that Beatles telling us.. Geez.. hehe

Grade 1 - Sto. Ni�o parochial school in bago bantay papuntang bahay sa project 7. Yes, tinawid ko yun edsa.. Just walking and walking hanggang sa nakita na ko ni Mommy sa may pandesalan.

around 3rd year HS- Lunch pass.. From tabayoc, until retiro na may caltex pa dati. Nalalate kasi ako pag hinihintay ko pa yun jeep ng banawe. hehe Ang layo pala yun, lalo kung nagmamadali pa.. Mabuti yun jeep ngayon, umaabot na dun. hehe

Just realized, every school year, lalo na nun HS - Procession ng Our Lady of Lourdes, di ko ramdam kasi kasama mo naman ang makukulit kong classmate. Kung wala, naku, uuwi na lang ako! hehe

Around childhood, maybe before transferring HS - Bahay ni Edcor sa Anahaw, puntang bahay sa Project 7. Ang layo pala, wala kasing dala pang tricycle. hehe

UST, around precom years - Nastranded due to floods, ang tanga ko pa noon, dapat nagstay na lang ako ust, ayun, naglakad from UST papuntang bahay, in soaking wet.. Bwiset!

UST with CRAP - ganun din di naman dahil sa baha, dahil sa battle realms at counter! trip trip lang maglakad.. hehe

UST and even when got old - Bahay ni Igz tapos papuntang bahay, ok lang pag may kasama, pero pag ako lang.. Kaw na! hehe

Procurement team, corpo days sa UST - Mula sa kanto ng bilihan ng tela, papuntang abad santos ata, lampas ng tutuban mall.. Pano ba naman, Christmas season, maulan, maputik at higit sa lahat, maraming tao.. Ano pa choice namin? hahaha

After graduation, before working - Ayun, inutusan ako ni Dad sa may caloocan, to find that machine shop.. Lahat halos ata ng may number ave napuntahan ko, to find out, bandang araneta ave. pa pala.. And yes, to make things easy, may dala akong brakes ata or transmission.. Paguwi ko, talagang napagod ako, got some laughs from Dad. Thanks!

While working in BOC - Park n Ride, papuntang BOC, kasi para makatipid sa pamasahe, besides, malalate ako pag hinintay ko pa yun MIA road bus. Kala ko ang lapit, letche ang layo pala! hehe

ePLDT, ecare days! - Grabe, one time, due to traffic sa Buendia - Makati Ave, ayun, from Parlance Jupiter to Glorietta park square terminal. Di ko kasi alam may jeep pala sa Makati ave papuntang landmark. hehe

24/7 pag 5pm ang uwian - RCBC to Landmark... Kahit anong way papuntang dun.. Kapagod. hehe Pano ba naman, kung sasakay ako ng jeep papuntang SM Makati, grabe naman pila sa terminal. hehe However, that's a good excercise everyday..


Dell, used VL to go to Sagada - Eto na pala ang longest, papuntang big falls by foot.. And it's 2 hours walk, and some climb.. Parang mahihimatay ako!!! Pero sulit naman ang walk na yun sa huli.. Sarap magswimming!!! hehe

HSBC last days - MRT Ortigas station to Discovery suites 32nd floor ata.. Nuff Said.

Sometimes pag sinipag- Bahay hanggang Lourdes.

While working sa shop dati- kinapos yun pera ko pang jeep, walang ibang dala, Suki hanggang welcome, may dalang isang supot na paninda. hehe Ang ungas ko talaga..

Applying to the Fort - Wow, inikot ko ata yun buong 5th and 30th st whatever, basta, pagikot ko sa St. Luke's, at may pinuntahan ako, sobrang inikot ko yun Market Market and whatever, halos nakarating ako C5 at JP, ayun.. Dun din pala bagsak ko.. Grabe.. hehe I hate going sa The Fort pag work.

Lately- After ng wedding, at sobrang short ako.. I mean 15 pesos lang dala ko.. After makarating sa export bank in Pasong Tama, naglakad na ko papuntang Alphaland, para habulin yun shuttle.. Kala ko maiksi yun pasong tamo.. Ang haba pala at ang dilim sa gabi! Nganga! hahaha

Well, those are not long winding roads..

All of those roads, nalaman ko at least one lesson.. There are easy ways to get to your destination except for walking and asking for directions. =)

Time is a great measure, success or fail.
Memories, events, and moments can keep,
leaves fall, darkness rises thy decides frail.
Hopes crushed, wisdom blurred, feelings buried deep.
Nerves feel calm and serene, as goal in reach
cool breeze flowing although out my body.
A happy sigh that gives me rise to teach
forth life shall enjoy through fun and bloody.
Autumn seems distant, winter clings near
wind blows everywhere, sun rises upbeat.

that life will end in a different heat.

Before 30

Can't believe that my FB was not pestered by greetings. hehe Ok lang, may mga bumati na sa kin, earliest as Sunday.. Yesterday, mayrun pa humabol na isa.. Igz asked that baka wala naman event nakapost sa FB.. Sabi ko I don't care, for someone who knew me very much, should at least, message me di ba.. Anyway, no bad feelings.. =)

Now, I'm 29, and yes, I'm getting older by age through numbers. hehe Bakit? Kasi with a new prefound faith, and some direction sa life, kahit late eh now, what I need to do is act, now and fast. =)

I promised that this new age and year, at least magawa ko yun mga changes, not all of them, but kahit isa lang.. Para may progress ang buhay..

Moving on and forward, I'm looking for the best this year, kahit medyo inaalat ako today.. Alam ko mas maganda ang bukas. I can say after 9 years from college.. Honestly, medyo alat ata ako.. Malas ata. hehe But with faith, even everything not into plan, tuloy pa din ang buhay. Sana it's not too late.

I'll keep my plans still hidden.. Lalo na this coming last days, alam na! hehe Apply by day, training by night!

For now, what I'll do, just keep it slow and sure, at malay mo, Lord indeed has a perfect plan for me.. A great plan!

Next year, I'll not only check this here, but also another blog.. One that is very experimental. hehe I hope someone will read and discover it.

I can say at present, I'll enjoy life in the right and effective way.. I'm old enough to mature at to do things right. If I fail, or may mistake, try to recover right away.. Not to really worry much about life, and always think, not only positive, but possible.

Thanks for all those who greeted me, at siyempre sa Family, Friends and to those close ko.. I hope naman next year, may special someone here na.. hahaha

We'll see.. I don't have a clue who'll she is, but definitely.. Someone that I really like.. Love. =)
