I should have watched this in IMAX but due to budget constraints, I ended up watching it in 2D.

Captain America: Civil War

Most of us got disappointed with BvS, I know some still prefer that film but for me..
Due to that disappointment, I felt I need to get satisfied with this film.

Transporter Refueled

            Yes, you are reading it right. I'm a transporter film fan, even I did not watch the short TV series. hehe Well at the first news they said that a new actor will act for the transporter, I was skeptic who will act this one. They also planned that to reboot the story.  I don't what Besson is doing for his past films, even they were produced by him. I think the only one I can say successful film he produced, was Lucy. But that was not really good film, story wise. 
Anyway, months later and while I'm doing my collection for transporter film, I said that I should get this film and add it. Thanks for the more free time, I kinda experiment this film, watch it right away.
One hour and a half later, I was blown away! Blown away how bad it was. Easily the worst film from the series. I can't believe they still shown this in theaters and saved me wasting couple of hundred bucks for this fantastic crap!

Many things made this film bad. First thing, sloppy action scenes! Except for that airport car scenes, everything was bad. It's almost watching a b movie action flick. The sound editing or effects for this film were bad. I don't know if the punches thrown were strong or what. It's kinda lame and choreography which you would expect great or at least, good in a transporter film, absent. The one I hate was that shot when the transporter was walking while his car was just rolling without hand brake. 

I cannot understand why they added that scene. Unbelievable waste of time. Another thing, very bad screenplay. Although it was saved due to the twist in the story, but the dialog and the story, how it was presented, I was almost lost and slept. Even the film was only like short. Combined with poor action scenes then bad screenplay, this happened to me. hahaha Third thing, bad supporting cast, besides with Ed Skrein and Ray Stevenson, the whole supporting cast was poor. Never mind that I don't know the cast but I hope they kinda made an effort to improve acting. How bad it is? I thought the policeman was a villain. I don't know if he was with the bad guys, or a good police. Plus the main villains, I don't know, they were not that scary and at the same time, they also don't know what to do in the film. Geez. Ah yes, sorry, the girls, they look good and that's it. Acting wise, poor. 

Lastly, the direction of the film, I don't know if Besson looked at it while shooting the film. I don't know, if this was an action flick or suspense. It was more like kidnapping film. Especially what happened to Ray Stevenson's character. Damn, even he was quite unlucky, he doesn't look like worried. He was having fun, too much fun. Weird right? He was having fun getting kidnapped by lovely ladies. hehe 

Well, not all things were bad. 2 factors that served as bright spots. First, was the good cinematography. It was bright enough and balanced, film looks good, just good enough. Another thing, Ed Skein and Ray Stevenson. I was surprised that dude was too good looking as the transporter but I accept that. I have no questions about this action skills as he did that simply in Deadpool. I just hoped that the action choreo did in this film was different. Stat's transporter was fast paced and frentic. This one, if they want it slow, like taken.. Slow yet effective, they should do it properly. With a good script and action plan, Ed's transporter will be good because he's more great looking and young. Ray Stevenson as Frank's father, he was good! He did bring not only the fun but at least the sense in this film. I hope he'll be there always if they will go through. Another good thing, cost cutting! hahaha With that face paced making this film and bunch of unknown actors and tight setting.. They saved a lot of money. 

It has been a long time I haven't bashed a film, so it's a good thing for me. hehe Yes, because of this bad film.. I did not put this in my collection. No need. 

Unfortunately, I have other films, more films that I just saved but did not watch it like this. These films, I can say, just a waste in my HDD memory. 
Poor me..  I kept most of these... Crap films. 

Not Showing: Make up Room

Well, I just finished watching this Eiga 2 hours ago. I can't believe I was laughing in this simple, low budget film about how a JAV film works. hahaha As a person who watched a lot before.. hehe Kinda curious, how they really do it. Even it's fictional, it's close to realism especially on how they talk and work out. Ah, for those who are expecting some actions, sorry... None here. Only some skins but very limited. Geez. hehe

There are some flaws of course but I can say it's more of the budget. First of all, yes, it all happens in one place. Yes, no other locations, only the rented make up room. It will bore to some of the viewers especially for those who are not into dialogue driven films. Another thing, ah yes... Not single actor is known at the film. No clue who are they, but only one non porn star which was the make up artist. It said that all the actors were from the industry itself. It's not a bad thing, but it's just for other viewers might not like it. However these flaws it's simply due to the fact of the film has really low budget.

A great thing about this film, the plot of the film. Very simple yet the resources of the film were used perfectly. It's about a day of shooting then all the important roles came together and all the funny scenes happen in a very short time. Let's say it was a perfect fit for the film, despite the low budget and unknown actors. Another great factor, the screenplay was great! I mean, especially when you watched JAV, now you will understand how it works. Great example, the guerilla style of making JAV. I mean they only rent the place and need to do it fast with minimal editing. How about, the make up artist who was not only fixing the actors faces but also can be like PA and even a counselor. Geez, she has a difficult job. hahaha I love the scene where the actress did not sleep before the shoot, she lay down the main actress and continue to do make up while she was sleeping. hahaha I love how the shooting was made such as the crying, the gossips and how actresses think of working in JAV. And yes, how men actors not given importance in their jobs. hehe It's like you were given a close look how they shoot and rigid they are.

Lastly, despite their unknown status in the film.. They acted great for the film. The natural acting and they've shown that they cannot only do JAV but also great acting. I know they only do that stuff, but in this film, you will see a different side of them. As a normal person and what brought them into this industry. Two actors stands out in the film, of course, the make up artist and the comebacking JAV actress. There were laugh scenes, one example was the actress accidentally eating here facial mask instead of her rice cake. How about the scene where the new actress shooting her initial interview.. That was so funny!! Ah another interesting role, was that annoying director but it was fine, I know had a little idea, how a JAV director works. Not in that really funny way but in an interesting way.
But all of them did a good job. So, there, I definitely say one of the good films last year. I was surprised, it's low budget but still delivered a great performance and like this film. I just hope some famous JAV stars did this one. =)

A Second Chance

Tama na pangungulit sa kin, no choice na. Give this film a chance! hahaha Honestly, no idea about the first movie pero dahil sa mga reviews, at napagiwanan ng friends din, aba pati sa opisina.. Matignan nga kung bakit tumabo ng 400 mil itong pelkulang ito? hahaha

Masasabi ko na talagang nasa pelikula lahat ng rason bakit siya kumita ng ganun at I can say its a good film. Sulit siya, kahit yun plano ko panoorin sa 250 pesos. hehehe Siyempre, di naman siya perfect or a great film, pero a big chance na maging great film. 

Pagkatapos ko panoorin, naisip ko, kaya pala pwede pang a third chance, style Before Sunset ang peg ha. hahaha Before Sunrise at Before Midnight. Mautak sila, pero parang di maganda kung may part three pa. 

First na sana naimprove nila, eh yun story line na 7 years period. I mean, kung ganun pala naging siste, eh sana kahit 3 years lang yun gap, ok lang. Kasi marami nangyari sa kanila in 7 years pero parang kaunti lang yun pinakita. Pangalawa, they could just removed some characters there. Well, wala naman magagawa kasi channel 2 at marami silang artista kailangan isali. hahaha Or simply, maliit yun cast sana. Or kung marami, dapat mga kaunti or cameo scenes lang. Isa pa, dahil sa 7 year gap, eh editing was not good, sana di na lang dinagdag yun interview part. Sana they could just start yun bad years nila agad then pakita yun good years then going to the ending. Isa pang sana naimprove nila, the music used, it's very pop for a very serious film at sana di light yun dating, I mean the things they wore or lighthing very light. Ibig ko sabihin, it has a potential na great if they made this film, more indie or dark tone, kung baga realistic. 

Kahit sa mga flaws na yun, I like the film. Una eh the balanced tone ng film, may mga indeed romantic/kilig moments, pambenta sa lahat ng ages. Saka may serious moments, na tamang tama. Saka yun parts na drama eh engaging at realistic.. Ika nga nila, eh bagay sa tin. Another one eh, yun script na nakakagulat ang dami nagsulat kahit alam ko kaya ng isang tao.. Eh ok naman yun pagkagawa nila ng storya, realistic approach naman, like yun nagtayo pala sila ng company eh di pala kaya na di sila magkasama. Saka yun mga away nila, realistic.. Lalo yun scene na kakabili lang ng gamit sa Gourdo's basag agad! haha Yun ang drama. Saka yun mga moments na very distant sila at pinakita yun mga failures ng isa't isa... And yes, how they work it out together. Mahirap yun ha, pero love made them together. Naks!

At yun pinakanagustuhan ko, yun acting ni John Lloyd at Bea ha.. Sana ginawa na agad yun sequel dati pa. hahaha Talagang pinakita ni Bea yun pagkamartir and loving wife. Very matured yun dating niya at yes, maganda. I wonder why she always staying sa mainstream flicks, she can do other roles. Sayang naman.. John Lloyd, well, very romantic pero pathetic husband na talagang pinakita niya. Ganun siya kagaling saka yun mga the moves ha. hahaha Saka yun mga last scenes niya panalo. Yun chemistry nila, talagang bagay.. Kahit parang tatlong films yun ginawa nila, eh fit silang dalawa. Mapaaway sila o mapasweet sila, perfect couple sa film.. 

Kaya yun, sana nga may third chance at naisip ko na pwede yun, kung natuloy sa London si Poy... Sayang, di nila naisip, pera din yun saka marami pwedeng mangyari, lalo na may Arci pang nasama! hahaha Kaso wala, baka mahirapan sila, tapos na dito. 

Natatawa ako sa mga lines nila ha, pero may mga lines na nakakaantig naman. Not sounded forced or whatever. Normal lang..

I have one more rant, Basha is a nice name, Popoy, it's just.. Pag naiisip ko kasi yun HS days, pag may tumatawag na Popoy eh... hahahahahaha Sana ibang name or palayaw naman.

They indeed deserved a Second Chance. Oh lalo na yun One More Chance, mapanood na nga. hehe

Not Showing: TAG (Sion Sono film)

Tagalog naman. hahaha Saka ibang style naman for this film para madali. Grabe kapapanood  ko lang ng Yakuza Apocalypse, eto naman.. Gritty yet crappy film! haha Nung first trailer na lumabas ito, grabe naexcite ako! Siyempre Triendl Reina running for her life tapos other chicks and Sion Sono film? Why not! Mahintay nga. hahaha Naisip ko sana ipalabas dito.
89 mins later. WTF! Di ako makapaniwala na ganun pala.. Ganun kalala yun film. hahaha Ok na yun first 20 mins pero nung bumabagal na at ano ano na sinasabi nung mga characters... Bwisit, ano na naman ito? hahaha I don't know what Sion Sono thought of making the film confusing na pwede naman simplehan di ba. The worst part of the film talaga was the screenplay. Grabe, as you want to know why all these things happen, eh lalo lumalayo ka at napapatanong kung bakit ko pa pinanood ito. hehe Dialogue doesn't make sense, ang may silbi lang eh yun sinasabi ni Triendl Reina. 

Another thing, sayang yun ibang stars na nasa film, namely Saito Takumi and Shinoda Mariko. Si Mano Erina, forget it. hehe Sana di na nagpalit si Triendl Reina ng face at the succeding scenes. Bwisit talaga. Sayang yun effort nila at sana ibang role na lang sila. Another thing that made the film bad, some scenes, just did not work. Lalo na as the ending comes, I thought, I just want to end it. Not interesting or exciting unlike the first minutes. 

Well not all bad naman yun film. Ok yun setting na ginawa ni Sono dito. Give credit to editing na kahit sobrang gulo at nakakabad trip yun story, galing pa din na di nakakahilo yun pagkaedit. Maganda yun mga running shots dito, mafeeel mo din yun rush at yun pagod. hehe At ang pinakagusto ko part, yun first minutes talaga, the shock, gore and thrill factor all in one. Lalo na yun part na nagwawala na yun mga teachers. hehe Ah don't forget the skin shots. hahaha Yes, give credit to Triendl Reina. Galing niya dito saka she can act. Hirap yun ginawa niya dito, lalo na yun first scenes. Magaling siya at may future!

I think Sion Sono really fast paced making this film. I mean kung may target ka naman na 6 films to release this year, malamang may films ka paspasan mo na! hehe Lesson learned, ok yun may target pero sana naman, make all those films kung di kaya maganda, make it memorable. 

This one, not memorable, kukunin ko lang kasi it's Sion Sono. I hope this film is only one of his bad films done in a bad time. 

Yakuza Apocalypse or TAG? Hard to answer. Almost fail pareho eh. 

Hard to decide. hahaha I learned, I still continue to play TAG. 

In the film, I don't know why its called TAG anyway. Don't tell me it's because of the switches? 

Oh no. Kowaii... 

SPECTRE

Well, Dad loved it because of the luscious scenery all throughout the film. For me, I hope I could have used the free ticket to watch Popoy and Basha. hehe I'll tell you why, it's not what I hoped for. 
Everybody has high expectations for the film, after the very successful Skyfall, they or we expect if not better, a good follow up Bond film. 

After 2 and a half hours, I thought I almost watched a Quantum of Solace part 2. The better version of it yet a lot of lack. First miss of the film, or should I say, the weakest part... The dialogue/plot of this film. I mean, I hope the plot is at least half good of Skyfall or Casino Royale but it seems they rushed it. After Sam Mendes declared first that he'll back out of this film then changed mind, that affected this film. I'm not 100% correct but I felt that swift decision to go back did not help. Next time, producers shouldn't insist if the director doesn't want to do it again. It's like I'm watching Moonraker or Octopussy in a more visually appealing way. 

Another major flaw, Short times. Short time that menacing Batista screen time. Christoph Waltz as a major villain, even he done his best to act out, but I felt he came short. Short time for Belucci which it shouldn't be. hehe Short time for a marvelous aston martin car, one of the great looking cars shown in a bond film or any film. So, for short. They fell short. 

Enough of the short.. Third flaw, or last flaw, the last arc of the film, although it's good looking, I fell flat. I mean, I felt that when they went to this place, I knew I'm going to watch those Bond films like I mentioned above, the streotype bond flick that he visits the villain's HQ and bomb the place. Jeez, I knew it right. Even with good actors and effects, it became predictable and yes, until the last action scene, became Mission Impossible. Good job!

Of course, these are the factors why this film kinda saved it from being Quantum, by an inch. First, give credit to the editor and photographer who really made this film very fun to watch. The night chase, the first action scene and the film did not give me a feeling that is dragging. Although with the biggest flaws, the editing and photography, it's a saving grace. It's nice to watch this film. Another credit goes to the technically possible action scenes. You'll see why Daniel Craig kinda want to give up his role. Geez, he done a lot of action and running and driving and swimming. hahaha Swimming to ehem. Anyway, yeah the action scenes were great, like the one on one by bond and assassin. That was tight and good. 

Lastly, the cast ensembled for this film, despite the big flaws, they still done a wonderful job to make this film enjoy to watch unlike Quantum. Christoph Waltz is a great actor, I hope and I know he might be back because of what happened to him. I hope next time, he'll be back better for his character. I love how he deliver the lines and how he shows up every scene, except for that last scene. 
Ralph Fiennes is good, Naomi Harris this time has a short part but still good, fit as moneypenny. Batista's character I hoped that will show up at the final action scene. hehe Ben as Q, he got it, just don't change the dude, he's perfect for Q! I mean the main MI 6 characters really fit for their roles. 
Of course, Daniel Craig who despite less dramatic scenes this time, but he pushed a lot of action scenes for the whole film. Most of his scenes made sense and some of the time, it's thrilling, like the first scene. It's sad that how this film was made, it looks like and feels that indeed, Daniel made this film, as his final Bond film. I hope he'll do another one, just last one. But if not, that's fine, I'll put him in top 3 as James Bond. 

Lastly, the most important part... When the news broke out that Belucci and Seydoux will be one bond film, the first thing I said, Daniel Craig is the luckiest James Bond actor ever. I mean he got all the beautiful bond girls ever! He beat the crap out of Roger Moore and Sean Connery. Geez. Monica Belucci should have been a bond girl before but well, great thing she catched the last bus for being one. hahaha What a legendary beauty. 

Then you add Lea Seydoux who I can say, helped the film moving forward, looks stunning especially in that grey dress she wore. She looked like those classy women in black and white films. Very sophisticated and beautiful with those blue eyes. Another great thing, neither of them did not die! Good thing indeed. One of the best bond girls assembled in a bond film. 

I should stop right there. hehe Anyway, hmmmm after this film, I don't know what they will do again for James Bond. Strong speculations they may go to a black Bond or very young Bond. I mean Casino Royale is enough for a backstory right? 

If I'm the writer or director for Bond, I want Bond to be in a die hard situation. You know like he's doing a mission but he end up like doing other mission because of the situation. I don't know if they done that but that will be interesting. A young Bond will be fine as well. Black Bond, hmmm I don't see Bond as black, not because of the race, but he might end up like Black Dynamite. hahaha
Well, kudos for Daniel Craig for giving us a great montage of present Bond. 

By the way, that dude who said this film is a different beast to Skyfall. It is a different beast.

An ugly beast.

Great thing, I have a free ticket for this film. 250 bucks was quite much for this film. 

Not Showing: Yakuza Apocalypse

When a report says that Miike Takashi will be back to his roots, everybody got excited. I am one of his fans that look forward about this film, especially when that title came out.  I thought, he will go back indeed.  Even those films were outright crazy, it has a lot of sense and some of his crazy films were fantastic.

Not for this film. 

Well, after watching this flick for over 2 hours, I kinda thought, he rushed going back in his gonzo genre. Two things I did not like in this new film of his, first was yeah, sensibility. I mean, after all those mayhem for 2 hours, the ending was kinda flat and hanging. I'm glad it ended at that time. Geez, I felt it just made no sense. Almost felt I wasted 2 hours. I thought that Visitor Q, which was the film I ranked the worst he made, made more sense. 
Second thing, there were repetitive action scenes and not polished scenes. I don't know if he intended to do it or he also rushed it. I felt some scenes I hoped it was done differenly and some, just cut it. By the way, Mad Dog was not really utilized in this film, especially that last fight scene he has. Geez.

Anyway, not all fails in this film. Besides with the cool movie title, 3 good things happened in this film. First, wow, I love the first scene and some of the action scenes there. Sorry to spoil, but also how that yakuza blood scattered all over, I love that concept and yes, the mayhem. Indeed, he is back. Despite that rushed feeling in this film, he is back and I hope in the future, he'll think of more of this crazy films. Ah, another thing I like in this film, even he under used Mad Dog, I love how he utilized the cast. I mean the only known star in this film is Lily Franky, I don't know the lead star Hayato but the characters fit in its cast. Even that battered leading lady was good and I'm searching her name. hehe But other stars done a good job. Well, yeah I like that frog dude even he did not show his face and is that a korean star? Love that suit he wore. 

Miike was able to improve a lot using his cast as time goes by. Compare from his previous films which he uses small cast, but as time went by, even he has a bigger cast, the cast delivers! Last thing I like in this film, looks great! Even with a weird plot, I mean it looks Takashi has a big budget for this film and spent it wisely. Effects used were good and doesn't feel he used a lot of CGI. Like I said before, if some action scenes were not good. Some were great, especially that Lily Franky first scene. That really kick ass! hehe 

Anyway, I hope Miike was able to finish this film in order. It's a waste that it ended that way but I know.. He'll come back with a different film and same vibe. Well, Miike has done a lot of films with all the genres you can think of. I know he'll do another film better than this. 

By the way, about the title, when you finished watching this, it's easy to understand. Don't worry. 

Suck more blood! Not Yakuza blood.. 

classics: Mad Max: Fury Road

12 hours later, after watching this flick, I realize, it's a reboot! I'll explain below. It's over, this is the film of the year! haha Well, I know there are still great films to show this year, not to mentioned Star Wars (not a fan anymore).  

A little introduction, if you are indeed a movie fan, especially if you start watching films at the 80's... There was a trilogy you shouldn't miss, at least the 2 films or at least the one film, the Mad Max trilogy! First was Mad Max, second was the Road Warrior (one of the best action flicks) and then the longest title in the series, Mad Max: Beyond the Thunderdrome.. I just don't like that one. My oldest brother really likes until this day. Geez.. 

Well, for those who missed those films, after watching this new film, I advise, forget the first trilogy, you can watch that later! Or if you are tired watching those films, just watch Road Warrior. 

If I'm going to do a full study about this film compare to the first trilogy, it will be a long post. I don't want to that, especially at this present state of mine. However, I'll make this short as possible. But definitely, an instant classic!
I ranked this film already at my top 10 best action flicks lists. I haven't fixed that list for now but I'll do it in the future once I watched all the films I could muster.  Action flicks of course.. Let's say, if Road Warrior was like number 4, Fury Road is number 5. I can't separate them. hehe 

There are only two reasons why I put Road Warrior better than Fury Road and mind you, it's not about the technical aspect. First of all, yes, despite the title and Tom Hardy is Max, well, he is not lead of the film. Of course, he did a great part for the film but his story was abrupt and Furiosa's plot kicks in until the end. It's not really a bad thing, actually it's a great thing that George Miller did, but when Max said his prelude, you are exited to see him what the hell is he doing. But, well, let's wait for the sequel. 

Second factor which is the deal breaker, Mel Gibson as Max. I mean, when you watch Road Warrior, despite Max is only helping or the supporting character, his presence and his actions were the driving force of the story. Don't forget the great acting despite, few dialogues for him. He also showed that depth in his emotions in the film. There were the reasons I put this film better than Fury Road.

Everything else, well, even the technical side are going to this film. Fantastic! First thing I loved is the cinematography used. I mean, despite it's apocalyptic theme, I mean it lookg gorgeous and there are some scenes just I want to stare, like the first scene. It also helped showing the every detail of the film, from their home base, then the wide shots of the desert and car chases, even the cliffs and mountains.. Astonishing shots indeed! How about that storm scene? Despite it has CGI effects, wow, it is breath taking! I don't how in IMAX looks like. 

Second, the cast! Charlize Theron never fails to suprise me. I mean in that film million ways to die in the west, she has comedic chops and she made Mad Max at the same time, turn into an action heroine! Wow, I mean Furiosa's character is simple actually. While I was watching, I am thinking other promising actresses can do that but when it comes to action fight scenes with deep emotion acting, few can do that and Charlize is really fit for this character. Physically and emotional aspect. Tom Hardy being Max is a great fit. Even not better on what Mel did, I mean it's because of the plot went... Despite being Bane at least for 15 mins, he is perfect for Max. He is shown as one Mad or crazy and at the same time, the stunts he did are insane and great. At last, there is a Tom Hardy film that showcases his physical prowess and at the same time, acting ability. I already saw some of his films and when it comes to acting, he delivers. Then the rest of the cast which mostly Australian, also delivers especially the Immortan Joe and the old ladies backup at the end. Don't forget the wives and even the odd looking henchmen. How about unrecognizable Nicholas Hoult? Wow, what a lovely performance! hehe Even, he met a sad end. 

Third, sounds are top notch! Not only a visual treat but also the sound theme and the crashes and effects are just perfect cue! I'm in the edge of my seat because of the sounds and OST used. Don't forget the guitarist with flame thrower and the drum machine team. hehe Junkie XL indeed, I must say he can be like Trett Reznor. But we'll see if he can still do that in other types of films. Great DJ, I mean most DJ's now doing these music themes from Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and others.. Great development! 

Fourth and most importantly, the insane, crazy, shocking action scenes put in film! Over the top car chases which indeed surpassed the Road Warrior. Evidence? The first chase scene, I mean that alone is way better than the Road Warrior and it doesn't include yet Max! That's how great this film is. I haven't even discussed the rest of the action scenes. Wow.. Even that night scene, it has that suspense factor and that tough ending. I mean I want to see how Max defeated that car but well, cut short. I hope it shows in home release. Great job by George Miller who, made a great effort of using more practical effects and very minimal CGI. The 150 million budget is damn well spent. I hope he'll definitely finish the remaining two films, all the fans are waiting to have his done. Give credit to the costume designer of the film. I mean, great looking, neat and scary! hehe I love that white war boy theme and of course, reimagined Max.

So, let's go to say why it's Mad Max. It has all the recipes as being Mad Max. Well, at least at this Mad Max, you can say he is Mad. Seeing visions of people and his grown old daughter?! Yes, unlike in the original Mad Max, he has a kid and wife killed. Not a somewhat teenage daughter. Always running from bandits in his interceptor and every relying saw off shotgun. The dog is gone. How it became a reboot? 

First, I already said the child thing. Second, it's not only gas that is running out, also water and there is already a Warlord or self proclaim God, which is Joe. Second, the looks of the people, it looks like there was a nuclear war or radiation.. Many deformaties and scary looks. Although Max still walks fast in one leg and still not sociable. Damn, when we will see a Mad Max film that he did use that shotgun. In this film, he already used the other guns, even that flare gun but not the shotgun and ended up broke! I hope in the next film, he can use one to blast off one head! hehe

Of course, his trademark interceptor! In all films, ah sorry, except for the first one which it did not end up in wreck. This film, it was not only wrecked but also exploded. Sorry for the spoiler! But I hope in the next film, we can see Max raming or racing his interceptor against those bad dudes. I don't know how to drive but it's just that interceptor has that aura. Darn, blame that Road Warrior shown in my early years..

Well, the next one I'll wait is Spectre, the new James Bond film. The other flicks even Star Wars, no thanks. I'll just wait this film in Blu Ray release.. Can't wait to see this in full glory! It made Fast and Furious films hmmmm for kids? 

But great thing for George to reboot the story in more scary and interesting wasteland scenario.. Kudos to him.

By the way, if Mel Gibson did this in 2003, I mean if George indeed push this through way back then, witht he same set up of this film. That I can say, the best action film of all time. Epic indeed. But we have this, better than never.. Damn, I should have watched this in IMAX!

Avengers: Age of Ultron

After watching for 2 and a half hours, the first thing I felt, it's kinda mixed feelings! It's great and worse. But not like when you watched transformers movies these years. It's great because of the visual spectacle I saw including the heroes really come alive again. Thor, Iron Man, Cap America, Hulk and the 2 nuisance heroes of Black Widow and Hawkeye. I called them nuisance maybe due to the lack of superhero ability. Then the twins of course, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (Avengers mode not Xmen mode), welcome additions of course and necessary. Don't forget Ultron and the surprise late addition of Vision!

The great things happened in this film were as follows.. First, besides of the cool looking heroes, how about the great action sequences in this sequel! I love the sequences which the heroes teaming their powers, like Cap and Thor move! Great team move.. Then Black Widow picking up things and just running and talking plus taming the Hulk. I forgot the other team ups. Sorry. hehe Anyway, the best scene and really stands out even I hoped it was for the great final battle, Hulk versus Iron Man in a hulkbuster suit. That's the reason it was called hulkbuster suit. That scene made me breathless and at the same time, just gave me a smile at the end. I wonder how much they funded that scene. 

Another great factor, give credit to Joss Whedon for making this film awesome despite I felt it was made in a rushed pace. I mean with the Marvel set the release date and sorts, he still made this film in a grand way putting all the stuff and still looks great even with some flaws. I commend how the pace he set in this film, no dull moments, and how the interaction of the characters made sense. Despite the action sequences were not that fantastic, he showed it in detail every second until it finishes. For short, its not dizzy despite a lot of CGI, like transformers or the recent Furious 7. CGI effects were polished and not you can say rushed. Give also credit for Joss that he gave up directing this film. It's not I hate or did not like what he did for the 2 avengers flicks, but it's just the pressure and expectations for the next Avengers will be so high that I want to get out of it, if I'm Joss. Geez, take a break and give it to somebody else. Besides, he admits, this film really drained him out. It's also great opportunity for the new directors to think and at the same time, well... Make every preparation successful until the infinity war starts. Great job by Joss! Thanks for making Avengers in the right way.

Lastly, don't forget the actors assembled for this film. Great to see Robert Downey, then Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett doing this despite being pregnant, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and a lot more. James Spader did really a great job of being Ultron, great voice for the character. Notable actors, Andy Serkis as that dealer of vibranium if I got it right.. The twins of course, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. From being a couple in Godzilla to siblings in Avengers, I feel, they are more fit as a couple. hehe They have that chemistry! Well, it's not what they did in Avengers was bad, but just a side note. They are better as a couple in films. That being said, almost all of them fit in their respective roles except maybe for the Korean doctor. She looks great and acted but it just well, they are other actresses can do that or can stand out. Still, great casting choice.

I admit that this film fell short of my expectations, and the first big flaw was the screenplay for this movie, it was rushed. First scenes came in then shown right away that they were raiding the hydra base. Geez, what a good start without a little explanation how they assembled again and discovered that base! That was fast! 

I do understand that Joss and his team needs to really change the story from the comic books for this film. Even I'm more interested for that plot, it's Ant Man's fault! If Ant Man was shown early, then this won't happen. Despite all that, Ultron was made through the smart moves by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. At that point, I can accept that, but when Ultron starts moving and developing, until reaches became Ultron, wow.. He just showed up and says I'm Mr. Smith and humans were virus and destroy them all. Wow, that was fast.. Despite Ultron looks great and kinda overacting because he moves like an android not a robot, that came so fast.  He was scary and menacing but no other qualities shown in this film. That comes when he was killed that easily. hehe Good job. 

Another thing, I hope instead of asteroid finishing the earth, how about finishing the Avengers instead, one by one. That is more cool that the usual asteroid or bomb destruction strategy. That's one of the reasons why the first really works well as Loki has a great plan and really made the Avengers give their all. In this one, I just got felt Ultron has a simple strategy and felt that final battle was a let down. Just save the people, stop Ultron and that's it. That was also rushed. 

The dialogue as well was not that expansive or fun. Although it was darker than the first one, it doesn't mean, from start to finish, it should have a dark tone. It can be darker in terms of what happened in this film, not removing the fun dialogue. I felt that in this film, it has the less fun than the first. Take a great example of Kingsmen, it has fun moments but really has also dark moments.  
Well, despite those flaws, I still love the film, just a shade below of the first one and yes, I love how Vision entered to the team, and looking forward more of him in the next films. Well, he is important anyway. hehe At last, after 5 films, we can see Paul Bettany. haha Great actor anyway. 

Great thing, I watched this for free,  so thanks for the eplus card. After many flicks I watched using that card, a great time to use the free movie pass!

Marvel, after this film, will have tougher challenges ahead. I feel, like my older brother's sense, that Ant Man will fail. I just don't feel something good at the film. I'll wait for the critics to see it first. Then, civil war comes next year which made to stop batman versus superman. I want to watch both films, no doubt, but I doubt if Civil War made for it's own way or just to neutralize Batman versus Superman. I hope, they just do it in a great way not for competing that other film. 

Great thing, they were able to deal with the Spiderman thing. However, that's not enough really to have a great build up for Infinity War. That won't entice me to watch Infinity War as most of the characters are not there. Namely, X-Men and Fantastic Four, which I know that's a small number but they are important in the war. They still have time to get the rights issue fixed but as long it's not possible, Infinity War will bomb big time. I hope Marvel thought of that before showing Thanos and the infinity gems. Geez, Marvel can just offer big money to Fox to allow the other characters they hold showing in that big war. 

If they are able to pull this off, then that's the best comic book adaptation film of all time. 

I won't be suprised if DC is more prepared than Marvel when it comes of doing the big heroes war set up.

Fast and Furious 7

Absurd right? I never thought that after watching that first film in my college years, there will be 7 films about cars and dudes working in and out law who loves it. 

Anyway, I still watched it. I can say that this is a bit better than the action packed previous one. Simply as that. 

Let's check the negatives first about the movie! First, I did not l ike the last action sequence. Sorry for the spoilers, I mean why with all that ruckus, no army or military came right away for rescue? Cops can't do that alone. Geez. Absurd premise indeed, for now, I just don't like the drone aspect used in films. Even in these new films. Drones are dangerous, and I just don't like the aspect of it for now.

They also, used heavily to special effects. Despite it's not obvious at most of the film, or even with Paul's double, I felt unnatural even at those car chases. Even that bus stunt, I just felt it has more special/visual effects. Another thing, I also did not like well, short scenes of the Rock and Jason Statham. What worse, Jason did not die! I still feel, the brothers will be back at the last 3 films. Crap. hehe

Well, the great parts, one is the insane car halo drop scene. I mean, that tops the tank scene. hahaha I can't believe how they looked real but definitely that is fine with me. And that Dubai sequence, on the top crazy!!! I don't like that supercar though. But I love that sequence, the scene shows bugatti. I also, love the cast, well except for the short cameo of the fast 3 members. But the cast just made perfect for this film, even with the short time of the Rock and Stat. I just hope that they had more action fights than car chases or balance perhaps. Tony Jaa's appearance kinda short. hahaha

Another thing, Paul Walker's memoir is great. I mean they did not kill his character off then that last scene was really a great send off to him. I don't know what will happen at the next films without him but I know they are able to think about it. 

I also love how they able to mask Paul disappearance in some scenes. I don't know which one scene is that anyway. But great job, so those things made this one better than last one. But I'm looking forward to the next and last 3 films if that's the case. 

Their lives are like racing in a quarter mile, isn't it? I hope they see the finish line with 10 films.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

When first news broke out that Matthew Vaughn will not direct the X-Men days of the future past, well it was a sad day. I mean after doing great at First class, then it's expected he'll save X-Men for good. 
Unfortunately, it was not. He chose this film than doing X-Men.
After watching this film, I know why now. I hope Bond was this bloody, I mean literally bloody great! What's more interesting is what I found out later.

It's a great action film, great thing to start this year with this one and of course, looking forward for more of this stuff. I mean, this film should be, definitely has a sequel. 

Although it has some mishaps. Only 2 things disturb me. Weird first scene, I did not quite get, how the dude died. I mean, it's explodes but it's still there and all of them lives. It was weird and sort of did not get it. I'll watch it again when the home release comes. 
Another one, well, sorry to spoil but indeed, Colin Firth's character shouldn't be dead. I know it maybe part of the story but he started it all and he is Kingsman. Indeed. 

That's all! The rest is damn great! I'll give credit to Matthew Vaughn that always deliver the good in his action packed films. This one is no exception and some others say it's his best film. For me, I can say yeah! He kinda trampled all other spy films in the action sense. He showed great action scenes, and really deadly villian and, great cast as well. Despite the film was long, I really did not feel a second that is boring or a scene dragging. That's how great it is. Especially that church scene, I mean at first I did not understand because its a surprise but I don't care! It's a blast!!! That is damn action scene!

Great cast! At last Mark Strong is a protagonist, I mean more than half of his films are always at the villain side. Great scary mentor and support for the film. Michael Caine is always Michael Caine. Samuel Jackson is just the right type of crazy main villain. Roxy, I forgot that actress name playing her is interesting.  Taron Egerton is a promising star, and this dude will get a lot of roles in the future. Of course, the ultimate Kingsman: Colin Firth. Wow, total transformation by him, I mean you always watch him in drama films, but this one, well mannered killing spy machine. Geez, I hope he'll do a lot this kind of action films. Sofia Boutella is the name of the actress of the blade runner. Geez, can you believe an ichi the killer as a woman? That sold me! Especially the first kill of hers. That was insane!
Anyway, the most suprising part is the writing. I mean, when I searched this comic at the net, they changed a lot of characters and even the spy organization. Give credit to Matthew and Jane for that making it work. I don't know how they will make it work in the future films but with that skill, they'll make it work. 

What a way to start this year with a great action packed film. Great thing they pushed this from October to February because I don't want to watch a film about a man who has a fetish in S&M. 
I mean japanese and european films already done that. Unless if the director of that film is well, I know who can do it in a more good way. 

Forget it, I did not like that, but for this one...

I like that line, Manners maketh Man. 

Who will win by the way, Ichi or Gazelle? hehe

K'na The Dreamweaver

Noong nakapila ako sa Trinoma, noted napakahaba ng pila.. Iniisip ko ano pipiliin ko.. Hmmm should I see a film na tatlo lang ang cast na mukhang pinilit lang gawin ang isang film about a whatever princess na sa tingin ko next week wala na. hahaha A film about 5 guardians who are to save the galaxy which despite great reviews and trailers or promotions, I did not get excited. Darn I sorely missed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.. Or how about Scar Jo becoming Akira but directed by Luc Besson which recently has a string of almost flops. 

Pero dahil di ako nakapanood last year ng Cinemalaya at nagpromise ako manonood this year, eto na lang. hehe Before naman ako pumunta cine eh namili na ko kung ano papanoorin ng around 4pm. I chose this na lang, kahit ang gusto ko mapanood eh #Y due to Sophie Albert, but Sunday pa showing. hehe Kapapanood ko pa lang ng palitan sa youtube so naging interested ako kay Mara Lopez, not because she became a centerfold of Playboy here recently. 

Anyway, simple lang naman ang story.. Hmmm a T'boli tribe as the synopsis suggest or mukha nga kasi sa Lake Sebu ang setting, may rare dreamweaver or parang nagbuburda ng abaca na napakaganda. Dreamweaver kasi may kakayahan ata mag interpret or makakita ng panaginip in detail. K'na is her name at napakabata niya to handle such hard responsibility. Very hard childhood naranasan niya kasi maaga namatay nanay niya tapos nagkakagulo pa yun angkan nila laban dun sa kabilang nayon. Pero ang napapatatag sa kanya eh yun Lola niya at siyempre may manliligaw siya na taga gawa ng abaca tinatahi niya. Then well story goes from there, which rely a question, can she live the life she loves or can she live the life she was assigned to do.. 

After a very brief 87 something minutes, sa dami nangyari eh nasatisfy naman ako. Di sobrang sulit o di naman lugi sa binayad ko. Definitely way better than Mood Indigo na kahit 100 pesos binayad ko sa french film fest eh nalungkot pa din ako.. hehe 

Some flaws to be considered.. First of all, sorry to spoil pero despite maganda ang title and title sequence and I was expecting kasi she is task na maginterpret ng panaginip, kala ko yun ang gagawin niya in the climax. But well, the climax was she forced to marry yun anak ng Datu ng other tribe. Geez, I thought na makakainterpret siya ng dream to save or stop the clan war which kinda a downer. Sayang.. That will make this film somewhat great or above sa ibang films sa festival. 

Magaling si Mara Lopez, which I'll tell below, pero some scenes that she could have nailed for an outstanding performance like namatay lola niya, aba nanaginip agad nung nasa hanging coffins siya. No moment to cry or grief. Sayang.. Or kahit yun kinakasal siya, medyo blank state lang siya, well normally for girls they'll cry if they are getting married to the wrong person but no choice. I met once like that. hahaha But well, sayang ulit. 

Lastly, although not really a flaw pero sana, if they did speak a different dialect, sana yun tuloy tuloy na. Not slow or phonetically.. Although pag nasalita sila deretcho baka mahirapan yun magsub. hehe Para rinig ko indonesian or thai yun pagsalita nila, pero ok naman yun ginawa nila. It's better kung natural. O baka mali ako, baka ganun talaga sila magsalita. I should be there to know. hehe

Great points, hmmmm first of all the editing at cinematography.. Talagang pinakita na maganda ang lugar na yun.. Naisip ko nga sana may rest house ako na katabi eh lawa lang. Talagang I'm not a beach person. hehe Dapat ganun na lawa ang setting. Grabe, the right balance of greens and water. Wow.. Breath taking. Editing kasi sa dami nangyari, nakuha yun tamang pace and scenes na dapat sa film. 

Director should be credited dahil sa iksi nung film. Di ba nga nagulat ako sa dami at bilis nangyari eh di man lang umabot ng 90 mins. hehe Tama lang, coz kung dalawang oras yun and more subtle scens lang, kakaantok. But with this short span, ok and tama lang.. Great length for a simple story.

Costume and production design na yun feel na sobrang pre spanish feel yun story. Kuha yun tribe setting, tapos yun dancing at props din na parang accurate in that era. Mahirap yun ha.

Lastly, despite a small cast and most cast eh parang taga dun eh nadeliver naman ng tama yun story despite that big flaw.. Give credit kay Bembol, Nonie, Alex Medina, and surprisingly RK Bagatsing ba, na kala ko nung una siya si Alex. hehe Pero pagtagal, ayun na, di si Alex yun. Galing niya as Silaw na dapat kasi nung panahon na yun, may nagpayo na mag move on. Ayun.. Kawawa naman siya, nagpakamatay, take note, one bad way and good way to die. But well, ganun talaga nainlove kay K'na. 

To Mara, well, tama si Direk Joey na upcoming talaga siya, from doing bare and risky sa Palitan tapos mysterious sa Debosyon last year na sana pinanood ko na. hehe Ngayon she can do role na not bearing skin. Tama nga siya, walang kissing scene. hehe Pero she can do it, very versatile and force siya sa film, kahit may mga flaws. I love the scene yun sumasayaw siya or even yun nagweave siya, talagang nagpractice ata siya. Then yun nagmamakaawa siya sa Datu na wag na ituloy yun balak niya, very moving siya. Kawawa naman and of course,last scene na tumanda siya na kaunti. I just don't like her skin, kasi sayang ang japanese looks niya!!! hahahaha Namana yun skin niya galing kay Maria Isabel. Pero dahil sa skin niya, nabagay siya sa role with her another dialect experience at acting na din. I just wish, I can see her in film speaking in Nihonggo. hehe 

Natuwa naman ako sa audience na talagang pumalakpak after the credits show. They like the film. At sa presyong 150, sulit. Dapat kahit di indie na pinoy film eh ang price dapat eh ganun lang these days.. I know a lot of factors to take consideration para lang matapat natin yun international flicks, but yun price na 150, kahit di alam nung manonood kung ano yun flick, tignan mo.. Puno ang sinehan. Chance ticket holder pa yun dating ko sa panood kung hindi next showing pako. hahaha Like the french film fest or Eiga sai, mapa 100 or lalo na yun free, puno ang sinehan. Dapat price lang ng showing eh pang laban sa mga bigatin.

I mean, paano kung ang film eh 220, malamang, magtiyaga na ko sa guardians. hehe Dapat all pinoy films mainstream or indie, eh ganun range lang para pantapat sa international films. Sa quality naman, alam natin malabo natin kalabanin yun mga blockbusters or foreign films, pero sa price at least may laban kasi dito naman ginagawa at dapat walang tax na yun ganun if they want to have pinoy film industry rise or survive. 

At para na din maraming film na magawan na ganito, kung di social relevant, at least different genre. Or whatever na kuha yun pinoy audience. 

With 150, Erich's film will survive two weeks despite crappy film. hahaha 

X-Men: Days of the Future Past

Of course, a real fact that once you are in the future, you cannot change the past unless you have such power or ability. However, if we are talking about saving the mankind from such desolate future, the only way you can do, change the past. All means..

As much I want to give the story away, this spot won't be enough to cover basic premise. But what can I say, the story they did for this X-Men flick is the best. Despite complex story arc, they gave so much effort to tell a simple story and not going anywhere as the movie goes along.

First of all, what I did not like about the film, but it's a minor flaws which are forgivable. Very forgivable.. Hmmm first the quicksilver role was cut short! They got the rights for the life of Magneto and Quicksilver, why cut short? Geez, maybe they can have him in Xmen for a while. Besides, he joined I forgot which group, either Xfactor, Xcalibur, or Xforce. I don't know. But the actor was great as quicksilver especially in that fun sequence and how his power shown in this film. Another flaw but this was due to that time travelling arc, I can say, Cyclops or Jean Grey should be really included in this line up. Even Iceman and Angel, they were the first Xmen so they did not make an effort to really include them. Cable can be included in the future or even Forge. There were characters that fans know it should be there in the major plot but nah, it's not there. This had some great cameos anyway in the end. 

Give the first credit to Bryan Singer, despite those bad publicity.. He was able to assemble not only a large cast, but able to put the story right, and the effects, effective. No need for 3D effects. That's why after Matthew Vaughn, Bryan Singer is indeed the next fit director. I was thinking, while watching the film, as much I want Matt Vaughn directing this flick, I thought he's directing the future due to the graphic action and visuals of the setting. Bryan is the one doing the past, 70's period which is not bad although it has the less action. But still, give credit to him. I love that first scene twist! 

Second thing the effects used in this flick is fantastic! Especially the powers used in the future, wow, if it added some gore, that is Xmen! But it's fine, from powers of pyro, Iceman, Bishop, that teleporting chinese lady, hmm Kitty as that mind teleport and even Magneto despite of Ian's old age. Wow, and the sentinels of course! Even they don't look like one showing in the comics or that cartoons, with a little explanation, I'm convinced those are mean Sentinels. 

Third, screenplay, the right talent and logic used in this film. I mean it has flaws, all time travelling flicks has that flaw of environment or setting flaws, but this one like my friend said, erased Last Stand. They were able to connect to important storylines into a great ride. I hope they just include the first part of the film in first class and make the second part of this film longer with a lot of thrills and action but well, that's my suggestion. However, the pace is not a single boring at all. The longest Xmen flick indeed and I was not bored at all, despite switching time scenes. I loved a lot of scenes, like how Professor X regained his hope through talking his future self. I love that scene. How about that scene where Wolverine lost his future self and talking his 70's self then switch it back, that's not easy to do. There were a lot of scenes I want to share with but just watch this!!! 

Last and the biggest factor why this Xmen flick worked great? The ensemble of actors. At first, when they announced they will combine the past and present Xmen actors, I was liked this might flop. But hey, with the great factors I mentioned above, then add the great cast from First Class and the great cast from the previous Xmen, the interactions showing and Wolverine really well done a great job setting this film in the right path, despite, Bishop is the one used in the comics. I'm sold, stoked and breathless as this film going. I was surprised that Mystique gave the lead of this flick, then how the relationship of Prof X and Magneto really works on and off, give credit to James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. No small characters went to waste, even Nixon's look alike is great. All the characters despite small screen time, made prescence felt. As much, we want more, then they should make a TV series instead like others do, such as Walking Dead or Game of Thrones. 

There are a lot of great films this summer, except for Spidey 2, but for now, this one really stands out! Can't wait for the next one, which as you saw, the Apocalypse. That would be massive arc and they should not omit important characters. Please!!!

Now, hmmmm after this film, I was more satisfied after watching Maleficent free. =) 

classics: All About Lily Chou Chou

After that japan music film fest I did , well I put Hula Girls upfront beside this film.. After a long time thinking, I've decided that this film should be the best among those I watched in this film fest. 

The cause of sudden change of mind came when I compared the two flicks. Why became an instant classic as well? 

First of all, the only bad thing in this film was some scenes were quite confusing, and the shaky cam style in some parts. The bad japanese student Shusuke, he's really good student before but just he became bad due to happened to his family and that near death experience in Okinawa. The first parts shows his bad side then switches to some parts which he has a good side. Then the parts when Yuichi, the lead character, went with his friends to Okinawa, a lot of shaky cam scenes which I thought I got dizzy and frowned but to overcome these negative parts, just watch it again.

Anyway, first of all, despite that dizzy or weird editing, story is simple, Yuichi just living his senior HS life with his close friend Shusuke until after that freak accident in their trip to Okinawa, that changed Shusuke and became the ultimate bully not only to Yuichi but their whole classroom. Those were happening while listening or let's say they have an escape by listening to enigmatic Lily Chou Chou. The ending? You gotta see it. I don't want to really spoil after all the chaos that these kids done in the film.

Hula Girls, with it's superb plot and dramatic moments still has an edge over this film. But it doesn't mean this film was behind that much. If they only remove that editing style, and made like a simple smooth plot from Shusuke turning from good to bad then Yuichi's life being from simple to miserable, this film is way better in terms of plot and dramatic feel. The next parts made this film more memorable to me. Acting, I know Hula kinda done the hard one by having actresses need to train for the dancing skills then how it can help them getting them out from dangerous mining work.. This one, it just pure acting, especially at that bullying scenes which is so real! I mean it happens not only in their school, it may happened here at my school or I think each school! It was scary and heart wrenching. Especially the scene where one student ran into the pond and was told by Shusuke to get naked and ran across the field, that is kinda harsh. Geez.

Yoko, the character who got bald in the end, was also a surprise character. Silent, not that really care about the class but unfortunately did not escape the wrath of her classmates. Geez, especially that scene in the factory, very I hope it's not true in other schools. Lastly, of course Yuichi really kinda resembles like my years in HS, loser and got bullied but able to survive and got even with Shusuke. Shiori's character struck me the most, she is just I don't know what went to her head just be a slave of Shusuke of being a prostitute then got mad, then killed herself. The scenes where she was in, really struck me the most, especially that last scene of her. Yikes.. Don't forget the scenes that has the chatroom stuff and I thought that was kinda no value at all in the film, just another visual effect, but in the end, another surprise was there. 

Despite that weird editing, the cyber chat messages stuff, gotta give credit to the Director who despite this film has long running time, it never bored me plus I got that feeling of the thrill on what's going to happen to each character especially towards the end. Wow, this dude is damn good.

Lastly, Hula Girls has that good music, hawaiian music coupled with great hula dancing and hot Yu Aoi! Here at Lily Chou Chou, you'll see an innocent yet great acting of Yu Aoi at a tender age. Of course she done better in Hula because she's the lead character there. But in this film, if she was the lead character, this is her best film. But well, the story focuses to Yuichi. 

I almost forgot, the music of this film, simply astonishing. Yes, it is, especially get the OST, then watch this film.. A perfect fit with it's kinda suicidal theme then the songs used, wow.. Especially that end credits paired with Glide, such a great, classic ending credits. The OST is not only like OST, it's a great music album for rock fans. I recommend you to listen to it. Half the number there are japanese and the rest english or I forgot. They used so much of that Debussy song perfectly in the film. Salyu is like Bjork in japanese. No kidding, she's kinda great. I want to see her sing live. =) 

Only caution for this film, hmmm let no HS student especially those who are in crisis watch this film. This might make the student drive nuts. hehe Not kidding, but with the message it brings, I won't be surprised after watching it, it may depress you.

But thanks to the OST, that kinda changed. =)

Not Showing: The Intouchables

As I looked the list of films showing at that time, French Film Fest, I eagerly waited for this film due to great reviews and a touching premise. Alas, they did not have this, they did show Rust and Bone instead but no this which is I think more family friendly.

Story goes a quadraplegic aristocrat or let's say dude can only move his head and nothing else. He can't even feel his feet or hands. For his condition, he hired an assistant to do things for him, from eating to driving or even waking him up when he's having panic attacks. Philippe does really need help. He got that help from Driss, an unemployed dude who lives in the projects and has real mean manners but kinda smart.

Two of them embark not only the professional working relationship but a true friendship that last forever. Cheesy? It is.. The only factor I did not like in the film is that part, sorry for the spoiler. But that part where Driss left Philippe momentarily because of some family problem, which I thought they will fall apart due to some fights or conflicts  during their working together. But it's not, simple as that, Driss left and Philippe languished. I hope they had a better idea of like a conflict between them or something really bad happened but yeah.. I just kinda frown a bit why they split before the end.

Anyway, I love the cast of this film especially the two leads, Philippe and Driss. By the way, let's see how Omar Sy acts bishop in the new Xmen flick. I might have quite high expecations after watching this film. hehe Francois is great for his role, it is difficult to just act using your head. I love his character that always calm and not really have self pity despite his difficult situation. Other casts  works as well, like the maid, and the hot secretary.. =)  I love the music used for this film, that says Driss' taste for soul and funky music. But I love the music used in the end, perfectly for the end credits, quite classical but never boring. I love the screenplay of the film, the concept itself and coming from a true story, despite some changes, it really warms your heart. I love how Philippe defended his choice of Driss as a guardian, he just said that's the person he needs, the one who not only take cares of him but understands him, fights for him due to trust. Despite Driss' past, he did not care about it, important for him, Driss' works for him. I love that opening sequence, very tricky and clever.

Despite I skipped parts, I still get the whole thing of the film, how you should really value a person, whether working with a disabled or not, or how you value yourself and with others. I love the antics or jokes used in the film, I laughed and had a great time. By the way, I did not why the title is The Intouchables. I thought at first it's The untouchables but that's copyrighted. =) Highly recommended!

Maybe that's the name they want to be called as buddies or couple, I mean best friends.. 

classics: Wall Street

Well, as I monitor all corporate or financial happenings for these past years, it boils down to one attitude that really ruined everything the financial foundation we put up.. That is Greed. I was greedy before, but not that business/worker/salesman time, but it was those early times when I have my credit cards. I was greedy to buy whatever that entice me, or spend it all.. I end up broke for the quite long time.

That what happened to almost all the big financial or even multinational companies in this earth. Now, countries are experiencing such catastrophe from Europe, USA and soon, please God forsake us.. Asia and the other continents. 

Before this ripple or domino effect happened, everybody was earning great.. Those time, Greed indeed is good. I'm just curious in this film with Charlie Sheen, Michael Douglas, surprising all star cast and its theme.. Money! How Money works for these people.

The biggest letdown of the film, it's not technicalities or plot, script or even the catchy song at the end which was not quite fit for an end credits.. Or even the director or the complex transaction in stock market.. Its the two eye catching female leads. One was Darryl Hannah who I was surprised that she just looks good at the film but when she spoke her script, I thought I'm watching a soft porn flick! Crap dialogue for her and sad to say acting. Sean Young, as much I love her in blade runner, I hate her in this flick, I was even surprised that I knew she's there at the end credits. I looked which scene she were and yeah, few lines, glimpse of her beauty then that's it. Wasted time and eye candy. Those two actresses by the way were great at blade runner, but for this one, I hope other actresses were cast. Especially at that year? Come on, there were a lot of available, better actresses than them, for this film. Forgivable, anyway, with or without them.. Movie is still a classic. 

First thing I love for this film, as a business graduate, used the real business environment, especially the stock market into film. As much the film wants to explain it simpler, but it can't. That's why a lot of fraudsters, schemers, or even networkers or yeah, business leaders, tycoons, watched this film due to strategies used, whether it's legal or illegal and most glaring way or earning quiet. Money laundering. Very visual and auditory at this film. You'll get a lot of ideas here, it is still applicable especially at these digital times. Inside trading indeed magnified as its best for this film. Depiction at it's finest, especially the stock trading.

Second the dialogue, despite that complex thing of earning money or talking about money and stocks all the time, the script/screenplay focused on human emotions at such in a simple way. Like that scene, when Charlie has everything with a beautiful girl, he asked himself, who am I? Then, how about Charlie's boss who dignifies hard work and right strategy than fast buck, inside info strategy.. Well, as much there is goodness for other characters.. You can't beat, or even forget all of those good things when Gordon Gekko speaks. Michael Douglas enigmatic character. As he preaches the best way to enjoy life, as long you have the best info in the world. Business info, anyway as possible of getting one. Every scene that Gordon Gekko pops, he's damn good. I love a lot scenes he's with it but one particular scene I love, which that scene encouraging investors to believe in him running the company despite of course, hiding his best scheme. Destroying the company and run away big which I think a lot of CEO's have done that already. Gordon Gekko is like an idol to these capitalist, as Scarface to mafia or hip hop artist. Geez, great role model. Then don't forget the father and son relationship of Charlie and Martin Sheen, in that film. Wow, that's kinda touching for such complex story.

Third great factor is the cast, except to those 2 chicks.. Ah from Bud's friend, to his bosses, then Gordon's team ah yeah Bud Fox and his pop. Wow, all star cast.. They delivered what it needed. Despite Charlie Sheen's kinda not encouraging performance, I like his character, and maybe it's just a very short time to really show he should be the lead for this film. But well, you can't disregard Gordon, his prescence and angst personality towards earning money, just keeps you wondering, great thing he's not real. Why? What if Bud did not care about Bluestar and both of them, just earning they way out without conscience, they won't be caught. Even at these days? Nah, they just laughing hard that deception works to all. Great thing, Bud kinda realized he's doing the wrong thing. By the way, I love that role of Terrence Stamp, especially in that scene he faced off Gordon, try to buy him off at a very low price. But well, it did not work but he played great, I thought he's a real damn billionaire. I wish I'm like that. 

Speaking of that, I wish I'm not like Gordon, a whole of him. Some of his strategies yeah but not to be like him. Brash, arrogant, and doesn't care who he hurts especially when it comes to money. 

Last thing I love with this film, the pace of the film. Despite I want more scenes how Bud and Gordon relationship flourished into more dealings, I like how after that scene of Bud giving info to Gordon go straight to bluestar. It was not that very long or very short. It's the right logic at the right time. Then, how Bud progresses in the film and how Gordon manupulate Bud as day goes by. Great thing that Bud realized it right away how that success ruined him and a lot of people, especially his lovely Dad. I love that dialouge in the scene were bluestar planned to be liquidated which Bud did not know at the first place. He almost became the fastest CEO to be brought down in the company due to liquidation. He won't even reach like 30 days like that first Pope got poisoned. Geez, scary corporate culture.

This film, should be an eye opener not only for those businessmen or stock traders but all of us, how money really never sleeps that it disturbs a man's soul. 

It is really hard when you're earning big and thinking that you can buy anything even human dignity. Well, it's a harsh reality but at these times.. It's real.. Whether here, or even in my workplace or any place in the world.

Money can be good if its used for the proper good. Money can be bad when you use it only for yourself and yours only. It eats you into a brim.. 

Greed is good? Well, Gordon says yeah, greed for life, greed for love, greed for money.. It enriches our evolving spirit.. 

Look at it now. Due to that dogma, every financial foundation falters..

I'm just waiting which country is next to file a bailout. 

I hope it's not us.. Unless those greedy men and women never stops. 

They believe Money never sleeps. It never stops.

I hope I have that kind of Money.
