Hehe Di ako magrush for 5 minutes. Anong silbi nung kanan. Parang pangbaba lang ata or sa ibang tenant. Hmph! Sino ba sila.. hehe Ano pa ba. Medyo matagal ha. Sayang ang bagong elevator at building. Kakabanas.
Hehe Bwisit talaga. See? Hahaha Sarap manood ng mkv or mp4 files, blu ray files.. Wow. Wag naman yun 70 inch or the one parang 80 inch ata. That’s just so much kahit marami akong pera. Hahaha it’s either, 32-40 inch LED TV or Projector. Other than that, wag na. I mean luxury TV. Kahit wala na nga net connection. Simply TV will suffice.
Erghh. Ang babagal kasi. Ayun ipit ako sa loob. Mabuti na lang 8th floor lang ako. Hehe Well, agony never stopped there. 3 hours OTY?
Then enter yun drum beat ng Don’t you forget about me…

Ring! Ring!
(Makati)
Part 1
When it comes to business districts here in the Philippines, first comes to mind is this place.. Makati!
As much I want to describe this place, I'll kinda save that part at the next post. For now, I'll just give you some companies or some buildings when thinking of applying for a call center/BPO job.
Despite many people coming from the farthest of places like from the South or North, they still come to work here at Makati. It's all here! From big companies, government agencies, malls or even the stock exchange.
Just a short description of Makati.. Definitely, if your shift is at night, it's easy to come to work, no traffic and less frills. But if your shift is the normal day shift, office type, morning shift well.. Gotta say, give yourself at least one and a half hour in advance coming here. Then if you come home at rush hour, give your at least 2 hours going home. That's at my place, but worse if you're living far. Geez.. Makati is big, a lot of villages and a lot of strict traffic rules, all guards in uniform can apprehend your driver's license and much more.. To make it simple, I advise don't bring a car here unless your earning big time. hehe
Cut the chase, let's start!
If you're coming from Pasay, going to Dian St.. I heard this is a working call center that caters Korean for online english tutorials.
Going forward to Chino Roces/Pasong Tamo extension/Washington, actually there is one building to look out for a job. The much maligned Export Bank Plaza. Maligned because the Export Bank was well, under receivership of central bank, it went kaput.. But the building still stands.
Inside the building, houses the notable..
Headstrong - they are like Accenture in terms of job positions, back office, HR functions, programming then that's it. I tried to apply there thru my friend but it did not work out. Fine. hehe Even my friend left, so I don't know, what good or bad inside there. But important is they still stands. They only have night shift. Definitely smaller than Accenture.
Sutherland - I'm not sure if this one still operates in this building after their closure of their site in one province. They handle mostly US accounts such as, I'm not sure but google or amazon. Between those two.. It's an Indian owned company but what I heard. None that will really notice them. What I do know they just closed their site in one provice way back a year ago. Geez.
WEST contact services - Before, they have a lot ads, even reaching to city buses!!! But now, they kinda spending cuts of recruitment! hahaha I know they have Yahoo account, the YM part which besides at their Manda office. In this site, they have a tech account, then HR of AT&T, hiring of outsource techs!!! hehe That is the position I wanted! But sad to say, I did not pass. I applied twice, one was after my college graduation, then last one, after my days from 24/7. hehe The tests were not changed, still the same, from typing, reading comprehension, interview, then that's it. I don't know why I'm quite unlucky. One good thing about them, you get paid bi weekly! Every second and last friday of the month. One bad thing about them, if your scorecard or stats are quite low, despite TL's authority to save the agent, they will remove you. No questions ask. Even you're tenured. I just remembered that they do have US cable account, I just forgot the name. But definitely, that's a toxic account! hahaha
After Export Plaza, well, go forth and you'll find Burgundy Plaza. Home of the security guards who shot their counterparts.. Geez. Crazy!
Kidding aside, only call center situated here is Sykes. But I'm not sure if this center still residing because they just opened one in G5.
Anyway, I'll make it short for Sykes because the bash is at their next site, in the same Makati place. hehe But here at this site, I'm sure MCI still stands or what they are called now. Then they have a new account, quite intriguing.. A financial account which the rep cannot disclose to anyone.. I mean even friends. I'm quite curious, I can't even guess if it's US, they say Canadian, but definitely not UK. I have no clue. Well, Sykes has a weird payscale that you can choose, a lot of leaves which you can convert. The bad thing? Next time!
Walk a few minutes, passed the Makati Post Office, the Mercury Drug and Tropical Hut, corner of Ayala Ave. From People Support, now it's Aegis! Then sometime, a new name again! hehe
Proof? Gossips around the office, then my best friend who well got retrenched, as he is working at middle management. There is a way of cost cutting.
Well, this company has ups and a lot of downs. I mean before they were recruiting hard and became one of the best centers.
Unfortunately, some bad things happen. They used to have a lot of accounts, one prominent account Vonage used to be a good one. However, due to the scandal and dropping sales of VOiP, Vonage closed and pulled out. I forgot their US financial account, I'm not sure which but that pulled out as well, then left a lot of non working agents. Others left, others retrenched and others lucky still stayed in different LOB's.
I heard that they have their own gym, a great medical coverage and good food restaurants at the below of their center, with Starbucks. Only accounts I know they still have, the flower delivery that I'm not sure of it, Expedia and a local account of Philam which they cut agents every month.. Then the gossip of another sale of them.
Well, simply avoid this one and there are a lot as you move forward in Ayala Ave or Buendia. hehe
I'm now thinking that this series will be the longest part of this blog series..
Coz Makati is quite Big.

Ring! Ring!
How did I end up here? Way down south of Metro Manila... hehe Maybe new scenery, fresh place or a breathe of fresh air or environment or how about better pay! It was indeed..
These were the times that I kinda lived care free attitude, financially and the whole being.. These were also the times that kinda chaotic. hehe Moving forward, after 6-7 years, this place became beautiful of sorts. Trees around the walkway in Northgate, then at the middle of it, circle of shops which are mostly food and one 711. There is a walkway with roof on it so if you're in a hurry before 5 mins of your shift under the rain, you can still make it! hehe
Traffic is way better due to the underpass.. The look of northgate way became better unlike those years before. So if you're looking for work and you're living near at these places well, don't look far. Here it is! hehe
Ah of course, this is one of my favorite places to work with, comes with some caution. Well, the only thing I can think of is if you're going to work at night or going home at night.. Please, just be careful showing off some valuable things especially riding in a jeepney. Great thing for me, I was able to avoid any mugging or mishap but others kinda unlucky. The whole Alabang Zapote Rd is kinda dangerous at the wee hours of night/morning, especially at the end of the road, near south station. Geez, don't go there especially at that market stop. Despite police visiblity, this road is very long, and there are a lot of spots where evil lurks. Just that, be careful unless you have a car. hehe
CVG (Alabang and now famous Nuvali)- Convergys houses at Alabang, Direct TV account which I don't know if its still there.. hehe Ah like Dish Network, this one is simply hell of a account. Pain in the arse, stressful, toxic and you kinda name it all. Well, another controversial account there is Optus, why? It came from a call center which is quite very familiar to me. It houses Optus LAD and prepaid service which you can speak in vernacular. If I got it right. hehe Of course, CVG is known for housing the toxic accounts, strict business code and conduct and sorts.. More of them when we go to Makati. By the way, Nuvali is at Laguna, and it houses suprisingly a lot of BPO offices, a new site.. CVG has one there and according to a previous employee there, it houses kinda premium accounts. Of course, stress is premium as well. hehe One account there, is kinda weird but clever, market research company, which give clients some information about a certain company for the purpose of acquisition or merger. Quite interesting.
Firstsource- I tried to apply for this company because I had a plan to come back at my sister's house if I did not pass my applications to other companies. Great thing it did not go through. hehe This is a new company situated at Northgate, it's an UK company doing outsourcing or Australian but you can check it at their website. Definitely, they are just a outsource company like CVG. CVG is located at the front of northgate while this one, way back, near Stream.
Stream - As they have centers in Shaw, Makati or in QC, well, this site I'm not sure if it still exist but definitely a lot left when it transitioned from eTel to Stream. Like some of my friends or former team mates. Geez. Anyway, I'll bash them when this one reaches my home turf at QC. hehe I have no idea what they have, well, one thing is for sure, pay is definitely lower than when they were Etel. hehe
GENPACT - This center is near Stream and yeah at the back of northgate. They sound another outsource company but they handle mostly GE accounts ranging from GE bank up to other GE accounts, I'm not sure if they handle a bulb account. hehe They used to be really a GE company but I think they were sold to become an outsource company. It used to house wachovia but due to financial meltdown in the US, they were gone. They still standing at northgate, they have a branch here at QC. I only know one batchmate used to work there, it was good but due to some management decision, she did not like it and left. If I were asked to apply here, hmmm there are many other centers out there. hehe
EGS - By the way, sounds new? Nope, they are the suprisingly old, coming from a merger between APAC and NCO/RMH callcenter which are both long standing call centers in Manila. Neither they've grown nor shrink, and decided to become one which is not very usual in the BPO industry. Maybe I'll explain it further when this one come to QC. Anyway, the account they have here is a medical insurance, which until now, not disclosed by my CG mate. hehe Anyway, what I heard from other people about this company, very messy because of the merger. Many are leaving, yet they recruit more. Very normal in this industry. But better find other centers.
Capital One - the most intriguing center in Northgate coz it used to be HSBC Alabang before. hehe Before, when they heard you came from this center, you're damn good! It is! hehe But due to financial crisis in the US and HSBC was slapped billions of fine due to laundering violations which was very embarassing due to the fact, we were always trained to be complaint against money laundering by the trainings and courses but well.. HSBC is kinda compromised that. They sold this site to Cap One. hehe I wrote a lot about this site and I told that it was the worst but time passed by, I heard they improved. hehe I discovered worse than them.. Cap One officially has one in house center here, but I'm not sure if they are really good especially they have US account, you know how hard it is! hehe
Well, these are some call centers to apply here at Alabang and yes there are some in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa which has Teletech and that directory KGB, I'm not sure.. Nuvali has CVG and soon IBM, not sure about that. Funny thing, until now, Northgate has the only BPO centers here, there are some in insular life building near Filinvest Mall, one notably a korean online teaching school. Oh, the AIG office which was formerly Philam Life subsidiary. As you can see, the only gate that has the most BPO offices are in Northgate, so I hope, in the future time, they will have all gates occupied with these kind of offices, not just Condos or specialty shops or restos..
What I love here is the proximity although traffic is sick especially in Christmas season.. hehe But most of the time, traffic is quite manageable as long you live house early.. Proximity from LP going to Alabang is only one jeep away. Then all the malls or restos you want to go is also here.. SM Southmall will be your second home. hehe Or choose from that all class Alabang Town Center, or if you want something different Filinvest Mall. Not to count that Molito part and the classy Ayala alabang village and other places sa south. Madrigal up to that Filinvest City is quite serene coz it has few tall buildings unlike in Makati or other CBD. You can run or breathe some air of it. Northgate itself is good by having some stores and yes, even Bellevue Hotel which I puked a lot. hehe
Schools, churches, hospitals are near and yeah everything you want to go is here. Of course I'm more connected at QC but because of these features of the city, I kinda love here. The people here? Damn fantastic.. And yes, south is beautiful. Many beautiful people! hehehe
I used to dream that if I want to have a family and be away? One of the locations I consider if I become successful, definitely here at the south. Yeah just avoid Paranaque due to flooding and more chaotic traffic, and weird roadways. Geez.. Even in LP, just don't be near Cavite part at Coastal because of traffic and quite far to Alabang or SLEX.
Don't forget if you're run out of funds and want to have a simple fun strooling time, there is Times, Metropolis and Starmall! =)

Professionalism
Not only siyempre sa BPO, siguro sa lahat ng aspect lalo na sa work eh you need this trait. It is hard to learn this especially when you're getting older.
As you get old, the more you'll be stubborn. Ah like my parents. hehe Kidding.. But anyhow, being professional eh di lang maganda sa pangalan.. Gaya ng professional basketball player, professional bowler, teacher, banker, director, actress/actor, writer and etc. How about professional garbage collector or cleaner, or conman, and better yet, politician. Any job indeed needs to be living like a pro. Maganda nga siyang pakinggan pero how to become like one? Nah, it's really not good to one's ear.
Follow your boss, most of the time.. I met some of them in my career, yun iba, lagi.. Or masama, buong career nila eh terror ang boss. Well ang way naman diyan it's either makisama ka sa boss mo or earn your boss attention sayo through performance. I mean honest working performance. hehe
Respect to others, especially your co-workers.. Kung ayaw niya or nila, eh di leave them alone, not the job.. Just move on and do your thing. At never, make an event na ikakagulo ng work, kasi baka ikaw ang mawalan ng work at mahirap maghanap ng work ha.
Follow companies policies/rules/steps basta whatever procedures they have. Importante ito lalo na if the company has a zero tolerance policy.. Sad but well, somewhat true.
Be, at all times, accept consequences in a honorable way. Do whatever you can to contribute to others at your most capacity. Accept mo yun shortcomings at be a sponge from feedback. No matter how it was said, kahit masakit o minsan kakabad trip.. Mabuti na magmove on, improve at enjoy. hehe Mahirap pero sa tagal ko sa trabaho, it works at magiging less stress ang work load mo araw araw. Kahit anong mangyari na panahon, o kahit may iniinda ka or may sakit, kahit may dinadamdam ka like nagaaway kayo ng GF/BF, tapos ang saya mo sa phone, pero after that, iiyak ka... So normal sa work. hehe Gaya ko minsan may lagnat basta may boses pa, pasok pa din ako! hahahaha
Give always your best, kahit di mo kaya minsan. Ibigay mo yun lahat kasi dun ka kinuha or binabayaran dahil alam mo yun trabaho. Yun iba, petiks petiks matagal bago magtrabaho samantala yun iba nagpapakahirap. Excellence in work gives a long way towards success, kasi todo bigay in a smart/efficient way.
Walang kaaway o heavy heart everyday siguro stress sa work load but not relationship to others..
I value having good relationship with other people because in the end.. Confident na sila to deal with you and have a lasting relationship with you. Being professional creates great relationships..
What's your profession?
Bad trip.. Pero for me, eto yun maraming ako natutunan at diskarte sa pagaaral. Bakit marami?
Well, siguro dito nadevelop yun pagiging pala aral ko, I still remember nung may tutor pa ko, si Tidad, naku kahit brownout at kandila lang ang ilaw namin, ginagawa namin yun assignment at di lang yun, may kasamang palo pa! hehe Old skul teaching yet it worked for me.
Bakit? Well, back in those days na dial up ang internet, actually di pa sikat ang internet.. Library lang ang sandigan for answers!
HWK also does help with your creativity. May mga HWK that entails you to be creative lalo na kung english or pilipino subjects.. Yun gagawa ka ng mga tula, essay, research paper, at magpractice ka ng speech, magtula, even acting or worse singing and dancing. Siyempre ayaw mo magpahuli sa recitation bukas kaya todo practice kahit mapahiya, at least may assignment di ba? Naku ayoko yun bring this and that for tomorrow tapos ang hirap naman hanapin. Naku yun ang ayokong task or homework.
Pagdating ng pasahan, feel the rush! hehe Naku, it's a must not only in GS or HS but also in your whole skul life.
Mantakin mo pumasa kami ng accounting ng ganun? hehe Pero infairness without this technique, I've known more yun mga kaklase ko, at most of my close friends. Kilala na nila kung sino sila. =)
Well, HWK activities indeed develop students, through skills, strategy, creativity and social aspect. Really, it's evident as it was shown above.
Right?
