Eiga Sai 2012

Started being an anime fan sa VHS, tapos watching about japan in channel 13 then some famous japanese films, ayun na.. Now, I know apart from Brit culture, or siyempre US, I am now fond sa Japanese culture.. To do that, well sana kung may pera lang ako, punta ako japan! hehe But I need to face reality, I can't. I don't have money and yes, I can't even speak Nihonggo of sorts. I can't even draw an anime character.. With the emergence ng Korean and Chinese films, culture, lalo na ang KPOP, movie and music here.. I still stand with Japanese as I discovered, they have a long history not only in world history, but also in world cinema history.. Japanese films are still doing great and yes.. One day I could understand their films, without subtitles.

Thanks to Japan-Filipino frienship month last July, ayun they always launch pala japan film fest every July of the year. Malamang I will wait for this every year. hehe I missed the Shang leg of the film fest, thank God, mabuti inulit this August at mas madali puntahan, UP lang. UP film institute..

I watched French film last June ata or July but well, di ko naabutan yun ibang film. Cinemalaya was nice and now this Japan film fest, never to be missed. I searched first kung ang line up this year eh maganda.. After reading some reviews, hell with them!! Kahit maganda or panget yun film, it's good pa din, free eh. hehe

Sabi nga ni Rheg, Maria Ozawa daw ba papanoorin namin. Hahaha Edi sinara yun UP film institute niyan. I wish Sora Aoi was there sa film fest kaso very small pa lang yun mainstream flicks niya eh. hehe

As much I want to watch all flicks lalo na yun ninja kids that was a family flick from Takashi Miike, eh due to work schedule at errands, di ko napanood lahat.. But one thing is for sure, definitely I'll wait for this next year!!! Hai!!!!

Happy Flight - From the director of Waterboys (the all male swimming synchronize team comedy), Swing Girls (high school jazz brass band that I recently watched, very great one) plus one of my crushes, Haruka Ayase (female version of Zatoichi) made a film about how the airline crew works, from the pilot, FA's and even the aviation authority. A fun film, kahit medyo predictable, pero ok naman, ang nagadala naman yun mga actors! From the nervous pilot, tapos yun mga makukulit na FA's, then the ground crew stories. Yun pace mabilis and made me think, paano na shoot yun airline scenes in such a great moments at fun scenes. Not bad but not very good.. But worth a collection from that director. I'll put this below Swing Girls. Lovely Haruka Ayase done her part, kawaii!!!! hehe

Tomorrow's Joe - A manga adapation about boxing. A homeless kid was trained by a washed up boxer to defeat the kid's nemesis when he was prisoned. Great setting and costume design, was able to depict the 60's atmosphere. Although may mga big plot holes, nacompensate naman ng mga main characters, at lalo na yun great boxing fights, kahit makulit yun shots. I give credit na din sa actors, kahit medyo malabo yun story.. Eh nadeliver nila ng tama.. Not suprisingly, Japan can make their own remakes from Manga adaptations, like Yamato or other manga flicks na may anime treatment. Kung ganun, don't give it to the US counterparts, look at DBZ or Chinese, look at City Hunter.. hehe

Ah the director, good job! From the director of Ichi with Haruka Ayase, magaling siya sa action scenes.

Permanent Nobara - Funny that eto yun film na sabi ko, tatamarin na ko pumunta kasi black comedy daw and drama.. Sabi ko nga, idownload ko na lang to, tapos yeah bahala na. Kaso wala ako makuhanan! hehe For these years, pag ganun, mostly Korean at Chinese na, but I'll give it a break. Nagsama pa ko with Rheg and Khaye.. After watching it, eto pala yun favorite ko sa Eiga Sai this year. A complicated story about a girl who is coping from her painful divorce, kasama pa yun anak niya going home, it's a journey towards healing and letting go. Pero ang nagdala dito eh yun, actors, lalo na si Miho Kanno if I'm correct.. Saka lahat! From Momo, mga best friends ni Naoko, the teacher, yun parents and step parents ni Naoko, yun mga usual customers ng salon, and special participation ng mga Pinay hostess/entertainers. hehe

At yun screenwriter and director, give credit kasi lalo nagiging interesting as the story goes on, especially yun twist sa end.. Great soundtrack, bagay sa film and provincial setting. Panget lang hmmmm di naman panget, some minor flaws lang. Sa back story ni Naoko, lalo na yun nakuha niya sugat, parang may kulang pa o gap pa about her feelings toward sa Mother niya or the father na di pinakita.

Good thing I have a copy na. hehe For Villain, yeah, madali lang makakuha, I'll watch it here.

Anyway, it does show na Japan is not behind with dramatic themes.. Kala ko kasi puro visceral, action or horror flicks lang sila.. Or how about controversial flicks. They are still a powerhouse and it's a good thing that others are following or already followed them.

Sayang di ko napanood yun ibang flicks but that's fine..

Looking forward to Eiga Sai 2013! Yosh!!!!!!!

OST Vol 2

I know that I have adored most of the OST I heard from various films. I thought these recent years films will not focus of doing great OST.. I failed to recognize such efforts for these past films I watched with great OST.. It's not popular but one thing is for sure, they are getting better!

I discovered that almost all brit flicks, has really good OST. As I love brit rock music or their whole music taste and art, it is always applied in their flicks. Especially if they are using great music from great bands. Starter for 10 as an example, even it's like a modern setting, they opted to use The Smiths, Joy Division and others.. Tinker tailor Soldier Spy! Great atmosphere music and theme plus a great song from Julio Iglesias. La Mer. Damn he can speak french!

Indie US films emerged not only having great storytelling and acting, sometimes directing as well, but great OST!! For example, Nick and Norah Infinite playlist.. Although not a great movie, but wow.. Fantastic indie soundtrack!! You can count Tron Legacy, and Hanna for a techno induced OST. Then yeah, one of my recent favorites other than those I mentioned, Blue Valentine! Thanks to it's one track sang by Ryan Gosling, short one. I'm sold to it. =) Rockin' Kick Ass and yes, one of the best OST's made by Beck, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Don't forget pala 500 days of summer. hehe

Of course, well.. In pinoy flicks, one is very notable, the indie pop rock pumped film Why Isn't there.. Damn, I hope they include that APO song in their OST!!!! Please!

Then lately, as I watch Nippon cinema.. That's why they are one of the best in the world. They have great OST in their movies as well!!! Name such films, like Strange Circus! hahaha Oopps. Wrong flick.

Hmmmm DMC, Waterboys, Swing girls ah Funky Forest due to a lot of dance and pop folk songs.. Visitor Q because of the last song. Ichi the killer due to it's damn fast paced and techno OST, don't forget cyberpunk OST of Tetsuo the iron Man!!!! Akira yes, and many to damn mention.. Lately, wow I discovered, great OST done by James Iha.. And sang by the fictional girl punk band, Paran Maum.. Linda Linda Linda! It has very addictive songs.

I'm glad that I won't to keep only Kill bill, Reality Bites or High Fidelity as a choice for a great OST.. Definitely, I'll add some more as long I watch more flicks in years to come.

How about adding Ooggielove soundtrack!!! (Just kidding, damn I was laughing hard after spill crew review this one of a kind worst sh*t flick. hahahaha)

Kung Ako'y Isang...

(screenplay writer)

As I became exposed to movies and some literature and arts, music and the like.. Haba no? hehe I thought of well, instead of making a band, it's impossible! I don't have a good singing voice, or even well di ako magplay ng any musical instrument. Acting? Hmmm I don't have the looks or even the skills. Poor me. Bale, that leaves me sa likod ng camera! PA? Nope.. Lightsman, cameraman, or even editor.. Nah.. I've thought only 2 things left, director or screenplay. Scriptwriter, not really coz I'm not a good in speeches or sorts. Hirap nga ko magsalita minsan. hehe

I thought of screenplay na lang, what I know of screenplay writer is the one making the plot/story of the film. Not really involved sa script kasi grabe na yun.. Kaw na yun magkwento, kaw pa magsasalita. Hayop! hehe But yeah may mga ganoon pero screenplay ok na. At kung director naman, is simply the CEO of the film or well manager of the film. To do that, you should be like alam lahat, from lighting, editing, even cinematography kasama at matindi, screenplay as well! Di ko naman kaya yun, especially the technicalities of making a film.

One role is enough, and that's is screenplay. Honestly, I'm looking for a book about it. The basic and cool book about one. Hmmmm of course, may mga magaling na diyan, from Mike De Leon, Raquel Villacencio if I got it right, siyempre, Ricky Lee and new comers na din for these days. I really hate na type of screenplay, recent flicks from that Star Cinema, they do films that target to attract goers with catchy lines and kilig lines. They really do it for the money I suppose.

Foreign naman, one I really look up to Stanley Kubrick.. Grabe, great director, great storyteller. Geez what else you can ask for? The one who wrote Blade Runner of course.. Then the recently indie flicks, hmmm ah british writers and yes, japanese screenplay writers with matching erotic screenplay. hehe At for me, great screenwriter... Charlie Kaufman, that dude is very imaginative in every sense of the word. Kahit sobrang weird or so.. Damn great writer, which he can film it as well!!! Don't forget the challenging Lars Von Trier and yes, sama mo na si Mel Gibson.. Quentin Tarantino siyempre, I almost forgot. Ah Christopher Nolan siyempre, don't forget that dude.. Terry Gilliam, more in the psychedelic style.

Kung ako ang screenwriter, siyempre marami na ko naisip!! hehe Let's say I'm more in the shock factor or action theme movie.. Then may thriller, tapos pwede din comedy at horror na din kaya.. Mukhang mahina ako sa Romanctic type at feel good movies..hehe I can say I have ideas that may change yun type of viewing, especially here. Sample, horror about Mang Jani. Janitor. hehe

Yun lang, sana with all those wish roles or jobs in life, eto sana yun masunod ko..

Why this? I have always imagine many things that may possible in life of sorts. Maybe my imagination is endless to tell a story.

You can see it in this blog right?

broken lines (collection 27)

I'm in the middle of crossroads.
I tried to enter such paths but it was blocked.
I ended up in a very far solitary place.
I thought of getting out from this place, after some time of working hard.

First months were confusing but due to some bad luck, I went on.
Wandering, doing my work but with no passion at all, I'm still here.
Making myself busy, doing other things to avoid being frustrated.
Maybe I should blame myself, complacency has it's place.

I realized, I shouldn't be frustrated at all.
I can still try other things to do at a place where I'm comfortable at.
I could work at a place which even I hate, I could enjoy that experience.
I have goals to make, needing some funds to achieve.

Saving and learning more skills, to reach my dreams.
Planning can do only much, but it's my decision will matter.
But never change these simple goals because I've gave up.
Those goals can be achieved through seeking fulfillment.

I know I'm not lucky this year as I thought of.
I was not able to reach anything yet until this time.
I cannot blame anything for now, I cannot even look back for now.
I can do, definitely decide what to do for this moment.

I should decide what's really good for me, and for my dream.
I should not only for my own good but to remove their worries.
I should accept the fact that I can't be in this place.
I should do what is necessarily... For all.

flashbacks: Grade Bingo!

That class corpo has a lot of memories to keep.. At siyempre kasama na to sa mga ito. When desperate times come in, you need to do desperate measures.. Unfortunately for us graduating students that time, we thought way outside the box!

There was a time sa class corpo na we were divided into mini corporations to increase revenue ng aming class corp crap.. Well, for our section, we did not run out of ideas.. Some groups still went to the tried and tested Samba, na ngayon eh umay na ko kahit makita ko lang siya.. Others went to sandwiches and pasta. Iba eh very creative, dessert! Ibang group matindi, may nagbenta ng Ice Tea! Iba eh empanada na high blood that it even lasted until may concert. Grabe yun!! hehe Matindi, one time, tosilog in a box! Yun itlog hard boiled egg na we end up eating the meal. hehe

Sa group ko with Joanne we also thought of selling yellow pad, or worse, sell our damn blood to the blood bank just to earn money. Or how about selling little ceasar's pizza in a special price which I thought, pathetic. hehe By the way, little ceasar's closed already for years.

Then yun iba, sa Samba pa din, kagaya kami nila Joanne na go to the old fashioned samba, go to other colleges na di sakop nila Ivan, and sell that damn candy. Kami ni Will alam na kung san kami unang bebenta. hahaha

One time, yeah, unfortunately.. We run out of ideas, nagisip kami with other groups from Al, then Jho, tapos may mga kasama pa kami na ibang classmates namin. We agreed that subukan magbingo para kung makajackpot, hati hati na lang at yun kita, ibigay sa class corpo.

Funny? We did play bingo.. No joke, we even did not change our school uniforms ng commerce! Mabuti nga ganun pa yun uniform, eh kung yun uniform namin kagaya today? Naku, magbibhis ako! haha After class, we decided to go sa SM Manila at play sa bonanza ata dun. Ngayon ko lang naisip bakit di kami tinanong kung HS pa kami, eh mukhang di na kami HS looks.. Naks.. But that time, damn, we were cheering bawat isang number na tinatawag to win for a game!

May mga nakalatag pa na cards, may mga marker pa! Sigaw kami ng sigaw, dreaming we will win the grand prize!! Tapos yun huling game ata nung, yun blackout! Akalain mo, 2 number lang ko short! Ayun, di kami nanalo kahit consolation prize. hehe Uwi kaming luhaan, at naalala ko ata, uminom pa ko nun not because bad trip.. That time, alam niyo naman, kasama na sa routine. hehe

Kakatuwa lang, I'm not sure if 4BA1 studs na kasama sa bingo na yun naalala pa to, pero natatawa kasi ako pagnaiisip ko to. Tipong nagmamadali pa kami after class at napakatrapik pa sa SM Manila, kanya kanya dala ng auto kala mo naman san ang punta, magbibingo lang pala. hehe Saka yun sigawan at katyawan noon grabe, wagas, walang katapusan. hehe Nasunog lang yun baon namin. Bwisit talaga pero it's a fun experience.

After that, ayun balik sa kanyang kanya benta.

Grabe, yun iba, they tried to change strategy pero yun nagsamba pa din. Don't forget the bags pala..

Well, naisip ko gawa pa ko ng isa pang part for that class corpo! Or many parts, may mga events na mas matindi pa dito! hehe At mga legends about this trade mechanix corpo..

I'll try to remember it, and if mga friends ko from 4BA1, feel free to share any experience, good, bad or even horrible from that class corp! hehe I'll collate that here if you want.

For fun and time's sake. =)

Sayang eh, dalawa na lang, parang 40k ata yun jackpot!! Di namin bibigyan ng percentage ang corpo nun! hahaha

We lied so we lost that game.

de-multiplied

I read yun letter sent to me by once famous social site Multiply.. It was a very long letter that really gave me an impression na simply they will not cater anymore about that social aspect ng multiply. At ang malungkot sa lahat, pati yun blog aspect eh mawawala na. That will start on December 1 ata, anyway..

Malungkot kasi because of multiply, that's the site I started blogging then nadiscover ko lang yun blogspot in a later time, actually some of my first blogs na wala sa blogspot eh nasa multiply.. Mabuti na lang may copy pa ko. That was 4 years ago and multiply was promising.. Almost all my friends eh may multiply account tapos may nakilala pa ko dun na weird, kabatch ko pala, sa kabilang section pa! hehe

The one feature I loved there was customizing the site, then you can put media files there like music at videos. Tapos yun blog pa, and chat na din. I used to really have time to customize yun site tapos there, putting some quotes.

Until na nagfocus na lang ako sa blogs and answering some messages, but after that, especially at the hype of FB, eh napagiwanan na siya.. Actually mas maganda pa maglagay ng media sa Multiply than FB, lalo na sa pics, drag and drop lang eh.

But competiton against FB, especially these just past 2 years took the toll na sa multiply. Lahat halos ng tao may computer ay may FB, kahit si mommy ko aba ako pa gumawa ng FB niya, and multiply was left out. Kung ang friendster was left out due to multiply and emergence ng FB, si multiply, napagiwanan naman ng FB. At may mga emergence na din ng ibang social media like tumblr or others.. Multiply decided to finish it's social media functions because of well, can't compete na. Surprisingly, they will be like friendster, they might end up in a different site. Si Friendster naging game site na lang.. Multiply announced they will be a shopping online site.

Kahit ganun ang nangyari, I want to thank multiply for the time, and fun being a user in their site for 4 years.. Because of the site, I had an idea on how to put up a blog site at yes may plan na ko to put another one for a different topic.

It's sad that they will shut down their social features pero ganun talaga sa business.. You will need to make tough and difficult decisions to move on in a venture. It was promising though but it's time to move on..

My Outer Heaven will be gone.. They can do whatever they will need to do, and for me, I'll move on. Thank you multiply for at least, letting me having an audience to my complicated blog. =)

Yes, this September will be the final month using this multiply account.. If I'm here only for shopping for gadgets but I won't log in, checking my count of blogs as well..

I feel guessing for FB, will Facebook share the same fate?

Damn, I won't be surprised if that happens.

Total Recall

Simply, after I watched this movie, I scrambled for the old version.. I even thought getting that VHS tape I watched since I was an innocent kid. That's how bad was this remake for..

There were two great things for this movie when I saw, great visual settings and second, free!! Thanks to the first company's movie day for the employees. What a way to start their treat.. Even it's not for my TL's request to watch this for the sake of team building, I wouldn't waste my time and energy going to G4, sit there, eat some free food and yeah.. Went straight home like nothing happened. I knew it will be bad with that PG13 rating.

The story? As much they tried to complicate it, nah.. A factory worker always dreaming that he's running away with a woman from those robots and got caught. He wakes up and stressed out to find some answers about the dream. He got some tip to try Rekall, a procedure which gives you dreams that you've never been before. A memory enhancing machine, good looking one as well. The procedure went wrong then he killed the soldiers, run for his life, met the woman of his dreams.. Went find the leader of the resistance to help him who he was. In the end, he's a bait to kill the resistance and the government launched an all out attack to the poor state, dude and girl help to stop the attack then it ends. I'm sorry I forgot a tough chick who just don't die until the last scene. That's the perk of being the wife of the director perhaps.

Bad factors, first was the pace of the story. They are always running so does the story as well. As much they try to make it an art, but nah they only give bits of Quaid at the start until the end. Nothing much to really afraid of except for the president, but yeah people can stop those number of robots. Hmmmm resistance doesn't do much, although you can see it at the news but no action from them. With all the running, great thing it's not in 3D.

Directing well, I hope Len Wiseman can at least do some modifications of the film, he done action packed films with gore or more violent scenes but this one.. As you're going to PG 13, you know what's going to happen.. It will be just an eye candy and say goodbye to your 180 bucks. Like Ghost Rider 2 and last year, Sucker Punch and the list goes.. I hope he make some writing decisions, screenplay and yes, maybe some acting coach.

Acting, as much I want to save Colin from this, I can't. He had some great films and bad films, I just hope he stay away from those remakes or big budget flicks. He's not really lucky with it. Jessica Biel did not change a bit, I bet I like her in Stealth than this. Kate Beckinsale, well.. Like I said, husband and wife together. Nothing much said. She looks great though. The dude from Breaking Bad, wow that's him? How he done those action scenes well, give at least credit to him. Bill Nighy, damn I believe he was paid great to do that role.

Action scenes, damn less spunk in those scenes. Sad to say, nothing good at those action scenes.

Great setting though, like blade runner style dark theme.. I love his pod with the piano but yeah that just it. Few laughs, just 2 of them. One was well the 3 you know chick. Ah the other one, I thought the one at the airport, the lady in front of the chinese man at the scanning machine, I thinking that lady will explode like the original one. Sad thing, it didn't happen.

How about this remake, remove Sharon Stone, Arnie then his leading lady, put Colin, Kate and Jessica, the old plot with good acting then make it polished settings, I'm going to love that Total Recall. Even the machine in the new one looks cool, put that in the old flick.

Unfortunately, old wine taste better.
